Garden irrigation systems: Drip vs. soaker

Installing an irrigation system in our garden has been a big time saver for us - especially during our hot summers. There are different varieties available, and we currently use both a drip irrigation system and a soaker tubing. Both may have long-term maintenance issues. The drip system is a little better for containers, while the soaker system is better for an evenly-distributed flow of water.

I don't know why so many gardening channels want to hide their locations. You have no idea how helpful it is to know the area we are watching so that we can know how to relate to our own area.

I was trying to figure out why my soaker tubing looked like sprinklers at the beginning and nothing at the end. Looks like I need to install a pressure regulator in front of each line. Thanks!

please let me knwo how you clean this drip hose, because after one season they do not drop water as well as when i bought this drip hoses

This is our third year with drip irrigation. I haven't cleaned it, and it works well.

Oh just had another brain fart… I wonder if one way to clean the drip hoses is to pump some diluted vinegar solution through it. I’ve heard of attachments you can buy that plugs in to drip irrigation systems that allow you to add liquid fertiliser and the tap water runs through that small reservoir placed along the supply line and distributes it through the entire system. So I wonder if you’d be able to run a very diluted vinegar solution through it then flush it out with pure tap water (to ensure it’s well diluted and not going to significantly affect the pH of your soil). I have zero experience with this but just wondered if that would work.
