This small garden courtyard was in bad shape. It is owned by a busy tradie that between work and motorbike racing, just doesn't have time to do the garden. He hired us to get his yard back into shape and rejuvenate it to its former glory.
Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Nick (shorts).

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

Of all the "mowing videos" there are on KZbin, I enjoy watching you guys the best. And that is because you just don't mow tall vegetation, you literally clean up all the crap on the property. You lot are imbued with an incredible level of work ethic to tackle some of these dystopian jungle nightmares! How people let their homes become such unbelievable horrors is truly astounding! I can fathom an elderly/disabled individual falling on hard times and having physical constraints, however, families continually living in this setting letting it deteriorate to these levels is beyond comprehension! Kudos!

Mates , I Can't say enough about these two hard working blokes that really do amazing accomplishments. For us armchair viewers even the simplest of things like cutting, trimming and beautifying a home seems like a huge job but these two mates make it seem effortless. After watching their videos it inspired this old coot to remove the weeds from my garden. It might seem small and effortless but I am missing both legs from knee down but made an effort to say "I did that" because these blokes helped me in a way even I wasn't expecting. Thank you Quick Cuts for the inspiration!

Great transformation in getting started on this garden. As you said lots to do to make it 100% up to snuff. I do wonder at all that plant growth over the fence. It seems to come from the neighbors vegetation more than the home owners.....or am I seeing it wrong? I would love to see a progression of videos of your getting this garden whipped into shape and further cleaned up. It could be made into a lovely relaxation area to where the home owner wants to stay at home a bit more. LOL

The over growth on the fence. Is that the dreaded ivy? People who plant it, love it at first, then get tired of confining it to their yards. In a matter of years it takes over. Know cause dealt with it. The roots start popping up all over. The size of the vines grow horrendously large. 😅😂🤣😳

I also couldn't get over what a nice 'garden' the residents had growing in their gutters - very "charming". It all adds to the rustic, unmaintained, unkempt, but still loved feel of the house. I'm sure that BBQ could regale us with many a story and conversations held around it over the years - arguments, discussions, whose footy team sucks or why a particular brand of Beer is for pussies, et al. I'd suggest that, that yard, like so many others you guys resurrect, is a microcosm of life - well, Aussie life anyways. Great job boys.

I thought the same. No logic/method to the job. Does a bit here, a bit there, then goes back creating more mess to be cleaned up. Doesn’t make sense, unless of course it’s to keep the busy helper running around like a blue *** fly. I don’t agree with a couple of comments about team work, I feel there is definitely “boss and worker”.
@kateburk2168
@kateburk2168 2 жыл бұрын
I thot the same, but Boss Jim wouldn't be able to have even-footing, imo, cause there was so much. Could compare to renovation in a bathroom...small area & rubble on the floor can lead to injuries if not cleared away. If one's to wait til everything is demolished there's no safe position to be in. Sometimes it takes that game plan to see what's the depth of mess. I was surprised to see the raised brickwork on the back line. His worker has a couple minutes of rest between clean-up sessions.

I think its great he hired you. After out having fun in his free time he can enjoy his garden. There is plenty of time when he is older and might not can do the fun things he is doing now to work in his garden.
