+Graham Taggart wow and i thought i had an over active imagination. i have bought a fly catching device. also bought a tennis racket like zapper thing. flies, wasps etc will be sucked up with the catcher and then be tipped onto the live electric zapper. to paraphrase storm from xmen when she struck toad with lightning "do you know what happens to a wasp when its zapped with electricity? the same thing as everything else."

Good observation, we had swatted it with a fly swatter as it flew around the yard. Then we clipped the wings so we wouldn't get stung and so the spider would have a chance. The wasp wasn't stunned when we threw it in. If you listen closely you can hear what's left of the wings buzzing away under the web wrap. To me this shows that the wasp's ability to attack is based largely on it's ability to fly.

@Tephodon
@Tephodon 9 жыл бұрын
+Appletank8 Some scientists would answer "no". However, look at the behavior of insects and other primitive animals, when they get damaged. I think all creatures, which have a neural system can to feel a pain. This ability is very important for survival.
@Appletank8

The wasp has to watch out for the quick striking capability of the spider Joe. If the the spider traps him in the middle of the web and gets on top of him, it's all over for the spider and, there goes the spider!!!! He's got the wasp on the ground, he's wrapping him, OHH and IT'S ALL OVER!!!!!

You should check out jumping spiders sometime. I've watched them jump and snare a fly in mid air. They keep a safety line web attached to their butts in case the fly is too big and tries to fly off with him. So then he just lets go and bounces on his line like it's a bungee cord. lol. But most of the time they catch a fly on the wall of a buildings when the fly had landed and is just crawling around. He sneaks up on them and just jumps on it.
