I don’t live in new Jersey but I love native plants! These yards are my dream! I live in North Carolina and am constantly working to keep plants alive. It’s trial and error to find the ones that thrive in your yard. ❤

I just love your channel. I am new to native plants. I learn so much when I watch your channel.

This is so awesome! My only comment is that the herb with common name Bergamot from the Menarda genus is not the same as the fruit from the Bergamot orange (citrus aurantium). Earl Grey tea is flavored using the oil of the Bergamot orange and not the Bergamot herb shown in the video. But I absolutely loved the video! Thank you!

But why mow the plants in late fall in the Caldwell garden? There will be overwintering insects/eggs not to mention the plethora of seeds that could feed birds in the winter. Just my two cents. Homeowner said we need to sustain the insects…well then let them make it through winter.

Climbing beans are excellent for hummingbirds, and the bright coral red flowers are gorgeous! And tasty!

Great job! Does anyone know how I can get some bergamot and cardinal flowers?
@sammisoccer74 жыл бұрын
You can Google native plant suppliers in your areas. There are also lots of Facebook groups that have native plant enthusiasts that would be more than happy to mail you some seeds!

With these gardens, is there a problem with ticks?
@NativePlantChannel2 жыл бұрын
These gardens don't attract ticks more than any other garden. Anyone who spends time outdoors either in gardens or any other area should be aware of ticks and how to protect oneself.

I love it, but my homeowner's association would have a cow!

Thanks for commenting, HOAs are becoming more open to native plantings. The key is that they look cared for and maintained. People like you can help educate your HOA on why native plants are needed!
@The.Ghost.of.Tom.Joad.2 жыл бұрын
@@NativePlantChannel I have a native garden and the HOA approves. It's just showy flowers planted in semi-formal drifts. No sedge or native grasses because of HOA regs, though. Instead, we use columbine, prairie sundrops, coreopsis, and wild geranium as ground covers. Looks like any other nice urban-suburban garden plot... until you notice there's not a daylily, Japanese barberry, or hosta in sight.

I plant nearly all native plants here in Pittsburgh, PA. Since we moved to our house almost 2 years ago I’ve ripped up nearly all of the stupid grass lawn and planted natives. Lawns are so dumb and ugly.
