How fantastic!!! It is amazing how quickly the garden can get overrun. Our back yard is like that too. So exciting though for the sand to arrive and to be started on that endeavor. Looking forward to the next garden installment. Love Jamie & Karl

Oh, there's a guy near me who has an ornamental bridge and river. In fact, he has an entire outdoor train set outside his house, and it's quite elaborate. Very landscaped and fenced-in, so the neighbors don't complain. I think he finally pulled the train tracks all into his fenced backyard, and turned his side gardens into static displays instead of railroad lines, but it was very cool while it lasted.

My father and I remodeled our entire home using recycled materials from a development going on a few blocks from his employment. He asked how much for a couple pick-up trucks full of bricks. They laughed and said "we were going to pay you to take them away". We didn't need an entire building of bricks, just enough for a large patio. We finished our basement using movable walls from his employer. Again, he asked how much. They said free if he took what he wanted before a certain date. We used the carpeting as well, until they could afford newer carpet. All we did was paint the walls. We made a bedroom, TV room, sewing room, and a laundry room. My mother was thrilled with a sewing room, with carpet and a design wall. The basement looked like an apartment, a very large apartment. We had a wood burning stove in the basement to help keep the upstairs warm, but it was great downstairs. My mother could sew anytime she wanted. My Dad didn't have a father to teach him things. So, I bought him a set of "How to" books. We also watched a show on TV, showing us how to do woodworking. There was no KZbin or Google back then. Just my father and his 11 year old daughter with grand ideas for her Daddy. The best gift he ever received. The book read like a recipe book. It was great to help my Dad. I miss him so much. This last weekend was Father's Day. Sorry...😢

Your garden is amazing! 💖🐦🌻 When we first moved into our home, it was just a bare lot. We've since planted chokecherries, apples, raspberries, clover, johnny-jump-ups, sunflowers and perennials, and it's a haven for bees and birds. If you're looking for slate for paths or water festures, go around and ask at pool table warehouses. We got a literal tonne of slate from broken pool tables. It was ours for hauling away, and we've used it for water features and little pathways. 💖🇨🇦

Hi Pixi, Anyone who is mean needs to be blocked 🚫, and isn't worth worrying about, or even mentioning, because they are beyond despicable. You, and your whole family are amazing!!! As well as the crew that loves and supports you. We all love Kori, and want the best for his memory, and for you. As far as the garden, Wow, I now know where the saying, "grows like weeds" comes from, your garden, lol. It's just going to be so magical when done. And the fact you are all working so hard, and thrifty; it's such a loving, thoughtful process, makes the whole project even more amazing. As I said earlier, don't bother with haters, anyone with a brain, soul and heart, is here for you. Some people are just jealous, petty, and not happy unless they are causing misery. Let the block heads be blocked and stew in it. Much love ❤️ Jacque

Unfortunately it’s the nature of the internet. I can’t imagine people saying mean things to strangers in person. They take to their keyboards and say cruel things, most of them are incognito and nobody knows who they are. If only people took the time to say something nice and kind, the world would be a much better place!

You should "rent" a goat for a short time. It would have it cleared in no time. 😁😁😁THIS WAS MEANT LIGHT HEARTEDLY...NOT TELLING ANYONE WHAT TO DO. I can't wait for the videos of each step. In the wild, Japanese maples usually do grow as tall as a normal maple, 20-35 feet high. You have to keep them pruned to keep them small. I'm pretty sure that you can start gradually pruning it, although you might want to just let it grow at this point. They're very pretty as full-sized trees, too. And sadly, your area is rather lacking in full-sized trees at the moment....

I don't think people realize that this time of year, it takes 10 days for those plants to grow where you had cleaned up the area. It doesn't take long before nature takes over, especially after being cleared up. Wow, if people want to be snarky, they need to go somewhere else. Let them know, whatever they say to you, they say to Kori and Ostarra, even Ebony. 😢 I think you're doing a fantastic job. ❤😊

People who criticize your slow progress in the garden have obviously NEVER worked on such an extensive project, while managing a family and dealing with all of the other stuffs life throws at one. And it's not like you can afford to hire it all done for you! So, ignore the haters. Your garden, ALL sections, is going to be absolutely amazing when it's all done! Keep up the great work!

My gardens and weeds are so overgrown that my new rose bush is sitting in a Home Depot bucket, waiting and waiting for me and the weeds to be gone! Gardening is hard work! Labor of love, for certain! PS Be sure to ask about putting down weed prevention cloth in certain areas. That will save you hours of labor in the years to come. It can also cause other areas to burn out (some call it "solarizing") and topping off with garden soil.

When people are negative they are projecting as they can't imagine doing something so awesome for themselves. It might be ambitious, but you'll do it, and it'll be a passion project while you do. 🫡

I'm sure the garden is going to be fantastic when finished. Obviously what some idiots don't realize you can't very well work in the garden when it's pouring rain ☔. Unfortunately weeds have no problems at all flourishing in the same rain 🌧️. The instant you realize a comment is negative, don't waste your precious time reading it, just block the troll 🧌 and move on to a more loving comment. 💖 🖤🤍🏴☠️🤍🖤
