I just discovered Grace and her music this week. I've seen several videos and she's absolutely brilliant. But, I hope she knows she also has a giant fan right there on stage with her. In every single video, the singer is in LOVE with what Grace is doing. She feels every note and you can see it in her whole body. It's rare to find someone who feels their bandmate's music so intensely. It's also very touching to watch.

I really like the drummer! He has great dynamics and keeps the overall volume fairly low, so the other instruments have more space. When he started singing during the last song, I was enterely blown away
@dougcallaghan60752 ай бұрын
Dekar Justus is his name. In this setting and most others like it, he plays tastefully and at the correct volume. However, there are many examples out there of him overplaying and playing too loudly for the space. As a former hobby drummer, I feel that when Grace is blazing and playing complex patterns, he should dial it down and lock in with the bass player. If Grace is playing something more simple, perhaps he could add a tasty fill here and there. JMO.

Don't worry about the age thing. 50 years ago, I worked in a large resort in Oregon. We booked a group that included a young sax player. When they took a break, young Kenny had to exit the lounge and stand outside during these breaks, as he was not yet 21. I'd go outside and have a smoke and keep him company. It wasn't until many years later did I realize I'd been hanging with Kenny G.....

Some of my friends took me to see Greta Van Fleet at the Reading Music Fest. Since the Fest wasn't officially kicked off we thought that Greta Van Fleet was the only band playing that evening. As you can figure, we missed you and Hannah .. bummer. Hopefully, we'll have a chance to see you in 2025. Also, in one of your other videos you said that Blues does the foundation for almost all music, I agree 100%. Y'all are a great band, keep it up

What I really like about Grace's guitar playing is she plays dynamically very well at her young age. That is just going to get better as she grows older because she is a gifted player no matter what the critics have to say good or bad. Also I hope she sings at some point down the line and maybe she already does but that would be nice for her just to make her more well-rounded. IMHO.
@Ch-ui6mw26 күн бұрын
While I'm sure her singing voice would be great, I'm VERY happy to just listen to her guitar virtuosity. Your comment reminds me of when someone suggested to Leo Kottke that he sing. What a horrible mistake THAT was!! lol

haha... every time I watch a video of a GB&tHP performance, I think being the singer for a star guitarist must be a thankless job, you just have to kind of dance around during the extended solos everyone is actually there for. So it's just hilarious that for some reason she has two singers here.
@dougcallaghan60752 ай бұрын
Good point. You would think the singers would slip into the shadows or move to the back of the stage. Not much stage lighting here, so nowhere to hide. 🙂

Not intentionally making any grand judging comment on an artist so early in their career. Or intentionally drawing any attention to their look, what they look like or the color of their skin.... When I close my eyes, the interplay between and Grace and her singer Esther, strongly reminds me of Jimi Hendrix.

I really like this band setup; you can highlight your beautiful style if there Isn’t anyone else playing guitar. The more you can be yourself, the more I like it… at this point your age has become irrelevant to me. You have got a great style; revel in it. Go for it, your music is really interesting.

Different band set-up. Just for this gig or has the band evolved? Solo on the last song was absurd.
@dougcallaghan60752 ай бұрын
There are regular substitutions for this band (especially at keys, vocals and bass). All the regular players have side projects on the go and sometimes can't make the gig. Grace has a deep bench. The Hodge Podge is an apt name.

Love her music, but just her opening her mouth showing her immaturity and ignorance around it has created a distaste for her privileged life
@sergio37132 ай бұрын
Not good. I mean, the music is good, but the band is artificial. Whoever is behind the scene stop putting Grace in the center this way. And don't put Esi and the other vocalist - I don't know her name, yet - as accessories. In fact, there should be just one singer, Esi. But if u, who is behind, insist in 2 singers, give'em true space to perform. Your intention to dilute the singers presence only males the band tacky. Bring Prince back. He help a whole lot. You're not high lighting Grace this way. You're make her looks silly. This band has potential to grow organically. Grace, be inteligent. Take the control. Stop changing members all the time.

This person has huge potential and is already showing and expressing great musicianship. She's far from average. The feel, the dynamics, the somewhat unconventional note choices and phrases do demonstrate she knows what she doing damn well. What is average, to be honest?
