Well, that violin joke caught me mid mouthful of food. I was always interested to see how Ostrich fern would perform here in the PNW. I managed to acquire one from the legendary Judith at Fancy Fronds nursery ( also in this area ) so we shall see. I’m thinking it might tolerate a bit more sun here.This variety is labeled as ‘Jumbo’, so let’s hope it lives up to that!

I have lots of ferns that grow and are native to Aylett Virginia but not sure if it is the ostrich fern. How can I tell it from others to see if it is fiddlehead so I can harvest it

Another important reason people grow them is deer resistance!
