Hi Hadyn 👋 Yes we had a lovely day out in Barry and Barry Island thank you. Delicious fish and chips at Finnigans for lunch afterwards and then took even more photos 🤭😂 It was fun. I told Roberto to come back and visit Barry Island in the summer as its much nicer then. We can also play crazy golf. Fond childhood memories of catching the train to Barry Island and spending all day there. Boy did those sandwiches taste even nicer on the way home 😂 Small World eh Hadyn. Happy new year 🎉 ❤️

Thank you so much for the invite and next time I'm in Norfolk maybe we could meet up. We don't come very often but we have hired a boat on the Norfolk broads a few times. We live in South Wales so its a fair trek. For now I just have bog standard garden stones to weigh my CDs down but would love some hag stones instead. relly sweet tool st. The first 'fork' that was shared is actually a hand cultivator. It can be used to till the soil between rows of veg, loosen weeds etc etc. The Ratties are twitching their whiskers with glee, 'Hey, look Roland- a new step ladder to reach then treasure at the top' ha ha. Oca can be eaten raw- often used to replace radishes when they are out of season in the Summer. We had a quiet Christmas, but Santa was really kind to me and bought me lots of garden gifts. Very lucky to get a grow light- can't wait to use it. Wishing you a wonderful New Year to you and yours Linda. Happy growing 🙂

hi linda when u empty your compost bin try putting some chicken wire on the ground and then sit bin on top of it then they cant get in iv done it to all mine and no more rats

We took loads of photos 😂 I've always enjoyed watching Gavin and Stacey but I suppose not for everyone 😉 Couldn't believe how lovely and blue the sky was after all that horrible weather but it was so cold and frosty. I'm so pleased our get together gave you a giggle 😂 it was a fun afternoon. Wasn't that lovely of Cheryl and Danny to help me take my Dec's down. Awww thank you so much ❤️ Grew a stalk of purple sprouting broccoli last year and wasn't going to bother again but was given these plants. Much better use of space is the normal calabrese broccoli I feel. It does look pretty though doesn't it. Yes loved my gardening set but feel like I want to wash it afterwards as too pretty to keep dirty 😂

Awwww thank you so much Ali ❤️ Well despite the shape of the parsnip it was delicious 😋.much better than shop bought. I had the leeks and swede yesterday in soup and the rest of the vedge in the basket we had for our dinner today. Surprisingly we all liked the Kale. Just as well as I have a bed of it on plot 1. 😂 Hopefully all this cold weather will help with the slug population this year as last year was horrendous with all the wet weather we had. Thanks El7zabeth ❤️ We had snow last night and turned to rain today so don't think it'll last long. It was on ITV Wales News Christmas Eve at about 6.20. It was mainly about a man running up and down Trinity Street on Christmas day for charity. Us and the other couple were there too so I think the interviewer siezed the opportunity to also report on the Christmas Gavin and Stacey. Happy new year to you too 🎉🥳❤️

@dogontheplot Hi Kerry 👋 Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I had some of the oca today and yesterday for tea. I baked it in the oven with other veggies and allotment leeks on the top with butter and salt and pepper. Today I made parsley sauce to go with them. They were OK, like a lemony potato. Did you like them? That's nice you had flowery tool set for Christmas too 👍❤️ xx

Hi Linda, do you have any suggestions for Rat deterrence with crops? I’ve lost 70 corn plants to them, 1 or 2 weeks before they were ready for harvest they took to them 😢

Hi Angie 👋 Oh no, pesky rats! They ate all my corn too but not as many plants as you had. I'm still learning how to deter them myself. I have sonar gadget in the shed and another for the polytunnel but not used it yet in the polytunnel. I don't think you can use them outdoors because of wet weather but I'll see if I can find a way. I know they don't like strong smells, peppermint oil bring one of them. I've tried a few things but nothing has worked yet! I'll certainly report back on how I detered the rats but it hasn't happened yet 😏 If you find out before me then please do let me know, and thank you. Happy new year 🎉 ❤️
