Not sure if "Rhubarb" grows in your area, if so, a natural defence for "Potato Bugs" is boil only the leaves of the Rhubarb in water, and when the leaves break down, extract the liquid only with a fine mesh screen, then spray your potatoes often with the liquid... It worked for me !!! Disclaimer: spray only one plant at first ??? Make sure it works, and dose not hurt your potato plant... Good luck !!! Did you say your "Wedding" !!! Hey, Congratulations Man !!! Wish I could attend, but my gardens won't let me out of the yard !!! Jim...

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials. I wish you years and years of happiness. It’s incredible when you think of how our grandparents and great parents farmed to provide for their families. Rows and rows and rows of potatoes, beans, peas, etc. gosh, I remember picking potatoes for days when I was younger. Or beating the burlap sack full of bean pods to knock out the winter beans. Now there are all these fancy gadgets and drip lines. LoL. I could see my grandfather shaking his head if he was still here and saw this stuff. A good trick for the DE earth is to put it in an empty talc bottle which makes it easy to get on your plants or fill an old ladies nylon(stocking) with it and use it as an easy shaker. Enjoy the wedding and see you in June! Cheers.

I figured that last week no video had to do with being busy with pre-wedding prep then seeing the posts on IG (just found you on there recently) that Ash posted with the absolutely beautiful signs that she made for the wedding confirmed that for me. Between being busy with the spring life on a farm and the wedding I couldnt' be any happier for the both of you! Oh and congratulations on the new rental property as well.🎉🥳💐💍👰🤵‍♂

Excellent chouse for ground cover! I "caved" 3 years ago after battling weeds for 10 years and I love, love love!!!! the landscape fabric. I have not seen a decrease in soil health, I have more earthworms and the soil is rich and loose. I do make sure to add composted manure, granular / powdered fertilizer, bone meal, diatomaceous earth etc, every year to every plant / hole. I get huge crops and am able to clean off the leaves / debris with a leaf blower in minutes to prevent mildew etc.

I've been using landscape fabric and dip irrigation for years. I also recommend getting a EZFLO fertigation system and a hose timer. I use a actual duster to spread DE. It will work on all your insects

I agree. I do have the time to weed, but that was all I was getting done and still losing. Bermuda grass can grow 24/7 and at 71 I can't weed 24/7 and it is not what I want to do. Now i have raised beds and by the end of this year I will have a hoop house. The purpose of the garden is to raise food and enjoy my time do it!! God bless y'all and keep growing---and do NOT let anyone tell you there is only one way to do it!!!!PS rabbits love to eat peanut plants, you may need to place a fence around the peanuts

For those who do not want to invest in landscape fabric planting cereal rye with vetch in the fall after gardening season let it get tall in the spring then roll it down. Rye is a natural weed suppressor covers the ground to keep out the suns heat just plant in it without tilling. This way you eliminate the need to till which is not great for the soil and its covered for the growing season. If you live in a hot climate building some shading hoops in the summer for vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers will keep up production and disease down. You can loop pipe and attach the ends to the T post with re bar and pipe gear clamps and just put the shade cloth over the hoops.

Your garden looks great. Squirrels took all of my garlic last fall, not one plant this spring. I’ve planted garlic in the spring before, it does produce, just doesn’t get as big and sometimes it’s one big clove. Better than none at all. Congratulations! I pray you have a beautiful day!

We do potatos in the landscape fabric like everything else and it works great. When they start to flower i put little bit of dirt around the base of the plant like a little hill. if u have untreated straw or wood chips that work great we don't have access to that. For the bugs I use a bucket of water, dawn dish soap n vinager and go every day n pick bugs.. the only think not in fabric is corn stalks bit it certainly could be and fresh dill. My garden is smaller then yours but yours is beautiful. They do make a diamatris earth tool u can put it in and fluff it out andnits so much easier then a scoop. Love the hoop house u made I want one bit we are smaller gardening. Thanks for the links.. your gonna love gardening now. Do what works for you. We have tons of worms a great harvest we till the once a year or so but u can broadforl if u choose. Its what works best for your homestead. Great video. Thanks.. congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Have a fun day!

I live in Kentucky as well and the weeds are completely ridiculous. Every year our flower area gets completely overrun. We have gone to raised beds only for our garden and that has made it much easier to control weeds, plant and harvest. We are in our late 50s so in ground gardening is in our rear view now. Wish there had been so many great products and youtube when we were younger. You all are doing great and congratulations on the wedding!

I grow garlic close to my potatoes to prevent potato bug damage, if that's something you might want to try next season. You can also rotate your crops, which would trick the bug migration. If you plant your potatoes where your aphids are effecting your plants, and your aphid-effected plants where you planted your potatoes, they will do less harm to your veggies.

So excited for you, Zach! Your garden looks great. This is our 2nd yr using weed fabric and it has made gardening so much more enjoyable. Neem oil is another great organic pest controller. Also wrap the base of your sqaush plants with aluminum foil to keep squash bores from laying their eggs. Wishing you and Ashlyn all the best with your wedding! God bless you both.
