Beautiful. Curious if you had to dig your garden boxes a bit into the ground / slope to get them even? Or did you use another method? Thank you
@BeanThereDugThat8 ай бұрын
Yes they are slightly dug into the hill to make them level. So the back side of the box is dug in. If that makes sense?

@BeanThereDugThat7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Wendy :-) This edging is a brand called Straightcurve - but you can find so many companies doing it now. Ask at your local landscaping yard or garden centre or check out the Straightcurve website for their stockists.

Do have problems with standing water since lanscaping.
@BeanThereDugThat Жыл бұрын
Hi - nope no issues at all. Our backyard is the top and half way down a hill - the bottom of the hill is the other side of the road! No water issues at all - if anything the plants in our garden (particularly the established gums) seem much happier now as the landscaping we've done has slowed water movement down enough to allow it to penetrate into the soil. Before the water would just run off way too fast.
@ricardomaman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! Did you find that the stones you put on the stairs end up getting everywhere or do they generally stay in place?
@BeanThereDugThat2 жыл бұрын
Thanks :-) Nope the stones on the stairs stay in place (unless the kids pick them up!) - these are a 20mm Tuscan topping stone. Anything smaller I find gets stuck in shoes, on feet and is easily kicked or moved when people walk. These stay put.

Brilliant design throughout❣️🙌 where did you source the steel from? What would I even ask for if I was shopping around?
@BeanThereDugThat3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony! The steel is from a company called "Straightcurve" if you head to their website, they list the stockists. straightcurve.com/au/?gclid=CjwKCAjw4KyJBhAbEiwAaAQbE5Iklpyljm8DVtWAFFF9ZfmP3FcWf2dl905GkJ7PhVenql5QB4qpmhoCiNIQAvD_BwE

How do you create drainage behind that curved Corten steel retaining? Or you don’t?
@BeanThereDugThat Жыл бұрын
Great question! Being on a slope our problem wasn't so much drainage coz water naturally drains. It's more about slowing water down and retaining it on the site. Behind the largest pieces of corten steel (the lawn edge) and also behind the gabion wall we added a layer of scoria pebbles. Right behind the gabion wall we also installed a piece of aggie pipe in the scoria bed to help with drainage. But ultimately what we've done here is allow water to stay on our property for longer and therefore absorb into the soil. For reference this backyard is the halfway point on the side of a hill. Hope that helps :-)

Nice 👍 Want to know where we can get these edges 😊

Have you ever had drainage issues since it’s on a slope towards you house. I have a house with a similar slope.
@BeanThereDugThat2 жыл бұрын
No not at all. We HAD flooding issues at the back door of the house BEFORE we did this landscaping! Without these retaining walls and spaces to slow down the water and allow it to penetrate the ground the water used to just pour down the hill like a waterfall! I think the trick is having several retaining structures in place so all the water isn't being funnelled into one spot to be drained away.
@jibcot85412 жыл бұрын
I would be a bit worried about kids falling onto the edge of that metal, looks kind of sharp, I suppose I could use some kind of smooth caping stone.
@BeanThereDugThat2 жыл бұрын
No - it’s not a problem at all. The edges are rolled, so they are not sharp in the slightest. I walk over them in bare feet! :-)
