I use nude or beige pantyhose ,(tights?) to tie up climbing vines. I cut the tops off to the top of the legs. Then I cut each leg in half vertically. The color basically disappears in the foliage. They're strong enough to hold up even an old, thick wisteria or climbing hydrangea. And they stretch so no damage to the plant. They're easy to find inexpensively in second hand or charity shops. If you need a shorter piece, you can cut 4 inch strips from the legs horizontally across the intact legs (without the vertical cut) which makes a stretchy circle band for tying. I've also used them to stake young trees.

Wow! What. Fab idea! I may need to start wearing tights hehehe. I used to use elastic for similar things but reverted back to string a while back. What a good idea for other ninjas though and a great way to recycle! Thanks for sharing! Lee 🥷🤘🌿

Hello Lee. A very timely video. I did most of my pruning yesterday in gorgeous sunshine, and even gave the grass a quick cut (and got rid of the toadstools!). Very satisfying to see the results today.... :-)

Hello Lee, it´s so good to see you back in your garden. And, finally, you´ve treated yourself to a Felco (bought in swizzerland???), my most beloved garden tool. I am desperately in need for some help at the moment, I distorted my knee (too much shrubs and perennials are left to get in the ground), hubby is suffering from a very servere infection and the son ....you already know where this mourning will end. You don´t happen to have a bit of your precious time left to come back to Germany and help with the garden???? I live in a region where they make a wonderful (sour) brew named Äppelwoi (Apfelwein) and my wine cellar is filled with some really good stuff! Ah, and if it helps: we had rain for days now, this should sound familiar. Oh, well, I get it, you´re booked up. The trees in your wild flower meadows look very good, I remember them as tiny sticks. Time flows. Have a good one. Thanks for uploading this informative October tour, bis bald und gute Nacht.

Oh know! Sounds like you’re going to have to let Mother Nature do her thing. Felco sent me some I think to try and convert me from my Niwakis. They’re lovey secateurs and come in different sizes which I’m loving. They hardly ever jam either! I may be a convert. It’s a shame I missed popping around for a tipple of your wine. Sounds delicious!! I’ve been trying to learn some German so I’m not so ignorant when on holiday. I think I may need a tutor though. Most residents of the back forest looked amused by my accent!! 😂😂😂 tschüss Frau Hippo! 😜🥷🌿Lee

Can’t wait to see your climbing roses next summer after you have tied them along the pergola. I really enjoyed your question and answer session online. I am looking forward to you showing me how to correctly prune and shape our cortinus shrub. Another very inspiring video. Mum 🥰

Thanks Mum! When we moved in they were a bit of a mess. So it was back to the ground and they’re now about to start off on a more organised journey!! I’ll show you once they’ve dropped their leaves. Xx

I grew some broccoli this year, harvested it many months ago but left the roots for the butterflies to lay eggs on and it has started fully growing again! Along with some nasturtium and cauliflower.. is this normal or is my garden magical? Lol
@Gardenninja3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha maybe magic. But it’s more than likely just an end of season burst of life. You probably won’t get much more from them but at least it shows that things want to grow for you!! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿🤘

Lee I forgot to ask earlier,i li e in the south west(cornwall) although we've got the rain the temp is still a steady 11-12 degrees, is it too late to plant out a couple of hydrangeas and move a small rhodedendron or wait till spring? I do still have 2 trees to plant and a wildlife pond to make,the list goes on😄 your meadow has inspired me.
@Gardenninja3 жыл бұрын
Hi RM. If you’ve got those temps you should be fine. I’d get them in now and they’ll be off to bang next spring then! So glad you’re inspired and enjoy the autumn planting!!! 🥷🍁🌿🤘

Hi what do you do when there is no outward bud on a branch. Also I'm nervous regarding old roses old wood what do I do. Thx in advance Pete
@Gardenninja3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete. You can see or feel small ridges where the Buds would break from to see where to cut. Maybe following my detailed blog guide here with rose pruning images may help. www.gardenninja.co.uk/how-to-prune-roses-the-beginners-guide/

Thanks Lee. I will definitely follow your tips. My garden has good shade from 3 tall palm trees that were planted by the previous owner, and because we live in a traditional Arabic neighborhood the garden is part of our courtyard so the houses around us also provide some kind of shade. I suspect that they used very poor soil or mixed with sand from the sea ( im 2 blocks from Haifa port and my neighbors tell me it used to be very sandy here. The roses were not the only ones suffering my lemon tree and the hibiscus don't look so happy either. I will keep you posted... I have recommended your channel to a lovely British family that is renovating a chateau in France, they have a beautiful garden that needs rescue. Check their KZbin channel "escape to the dream",chateau de lalacel . it would be lovely to see your amazing talent bringing their garden back to life
@Gardenninja3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paula. With this further info it sounds like a heavy organic mulch would help all of those plants. Let me know how you get on and thanks for the recommendation on that other channel! Happy gardening! Lee 🥷🤘🌿
