currently I am 23 years old, 7 years ago in 2014-2015 I was diagnosed with soft tissue tumor in pelvis had done 20+ abdomen pelivs ct scan , 1 whole body bone scan, 1 whole body pet scan , 10+ chest x ray and radiotherapy for 33 days, daily duration 5 minutes and radiotherapy is had thousands times more radiation than x rays and ct scans. And God blessed me I am still alive 🙏

Great animation. AIIMS doctor is right in a way- because CT is commonly abused for covid in India. The correct questions are 1. should we use it for diagnosis if rt pcr is positive?2. is it prognostic-ct score tend to vary?3. is there any point in repeating?4. what are we missing if we are not doing ct? Medicine meant to do no harm even if it is said to be minor!

As a medical student i have studied that a chest xrays absorbed dose equivalent would be somewhere around 0.02 msv and a ct thorax would be around 8 msv ….so if that is correct then the aims chiefs claim seems to be correct. But again it also depends upon the persons body type and the generation of the ct machine

While traveling in an aeroplane you also get exposed to radiation. Highly dependent on time taken by aeroplane to go from one place to another, altitude & latitude also but at an average you can get exposed to 0.035mSv for a trip of over 3000km long in northern hemisphere.

The AIIMS chief talked about HRCT. High resolution CT, which is being done to detect lung involvement in COVID, has much higher radiation than the conventional CT. And yes, the value of radiation changes with generations of CT technology. But we are in India and we don’t have super advanced lates technology everywhere. We in India still have many older CT machines where people are unnecessarily getting their CT done bcz of fear of COVID. Your animations and all are good. But do more research next time bro. Just saying.

I understand a lot of people are earning a lot of money from CT scans…. But someone’s life is more important that money …. My sister in law was recovering from covid-19, the doctor recommended to do CT scan before releasing from the hospital…. As soon as they did the ct scan within a few hrs she started having difficulty breathing and then she was put on ventilator and then she passed away within 24 hrs….
