This was so easy to follow! - Thank you! I just created my signature for a project in like 10 minutes One thing I found, even if you want your signature just to be black, still go through the steps to change the color and change it to black! When I saved mine as a .png without changing the color, it was a little spotty with a few white marks in it.

I have watched and followed many of Gareths Tutorials including the whole series of multi media design course which is 15 videos that was an absolute bargain all the files folders designs photos etc that were provided was incredible. Hi there, there was no 'fill effect' applied, its the integrity of the photo and the thickness of the pen used to write the signature that determines the quality of the 'fill' appearance. Converting to grayscale and adjusting the levels creates the contrast, which upon using the colour range tool to remove the white, will isolate the signature onto a transparent layer, to then apply a colour fill in the layer styles. Hope that helps

Thanks for this enlightening video. I could put my transparent signature at the bottom of all my pics by first saving the signature file in Photoshop CS5 as a .png image and then in Lightroom 5, by editing the watermark using the 'graphic' option and selecting the said image.

Reset preferences in Photoshop to show transparency as checkerboard. Settings were for "none", i.e. white. Man, I am an idiot. Thanks for a great tutorial. My signature saved now in a rainbow of colors for any photographic application.

I'm using Photoshop Elements 12. When I get to 4:55 where you say go to "select" and pick "colour range" - it all goes to hades in a hand basket, I don't have that particular option on that drop down menu ... and I've scrabbled through the other drop down menus and I can't find it. Is this an Elements thing, or is there different labeling or what?

Using Digital Signatures in Acrobat ProGreat video and is very close to how I've made mine. I work in a law office and we have to digitally sign our PDF using our signature. Once a person follows your instructions they can go to File > Save to Web, change the Image Size width to about 1400 px and choose PNG-24 (not png-8) with Transparency checked. This will place a signature in Acrobat with a transparent background even on color pages. For some reason using png-8 you get the white background box even though you choose transparency.

Nice way to make a simple job go on for ages. instead of cut and paste, just hold ctrl while clicking new layer to get a transparent layer underneath then use your color range
