A deleted scene from The Office. Gareth asks Dawn for a womens perspective on his relationships. If this scene had made the cut it would probably be my favourite Gareth moment.

I'm surprised she didn't smack him after he said that. I have only seen the American version of The office, which I really liked, because for some reason I couldn't get into the one episode of the British/original versionI saw. This is a bit odd because while I'm a Canadian I generally prefer British humour to anything we see here that comes out of the States. Probably because you see every punch line coming a mile away whereas British humour isn't set up like that, you guys don't stop the show for a second (cue laugh track) to pat yourselves on the back every time you say something funny. And thanks to Netflix I get to watch some British show that I normally would never have even heard of.
@marlonjohn83325 жыл бұрын
@@aberamagold7509 Why would she smack Gareth? Watched and love them both versions for different reasons, US version is more like family/friend relationship in an office setting and a lot of character focus and development (given they have a lot of episodes), silly jokes and some awkward moments, while UK has focused on what's happening inside the office, tons of subtle jokes without setup and breaks, and pure awkwardness.
@gravity1115875 жыл бұрын
@@aberamagold7509 I am also Canadian, and I completely agree with this. I always prefer British comedy for the same reasons. They have more complex, subtle, and dry humor. Where-as I find American humor just hits you over the head with the punchline. (I've always found that Canadian comedy was a nice marriage of the two). That being said when it comes to the office, I really did prefer the American version and I was very surprised by that.

@@gravity111587 You probably prefer The Office US because it's not bleak and borderline depressing like the UK version. It's all fine and good that The Office UK is realistic in its boring and socially awkward work environment, but a comedy is meant to be fun.

UK office was just on a different level to the US one. the US version, as with most US sitcoms, relies on characters being over the top stupid for shits and giggles.
@weirdshibainu3 жыл бұрын
I find the u.k.version lacking irony or subtext. You have it backwards
@Darwinion3 жыл бұрын
The US version actually manages to develop the characters further due to huge number of episodes, so I don't see how they are over the top. Quite the opposite. The UK version is still brilliant but the characters cannot ever stray. Gareth is always a 100% nob, can never say or do anything nice. Not quite so in the US version. I'd say the US version is almost as good as the UK but in a different way.
