I'm a buy and hold person and a long term swing person. I have 2 very basic questions. I have never "shorted" a stock and I have never put a "stop" in a trade. I do know how to dollar cost average in buying and I always buy "at the market price". Can you teach me how to "short" and how to put in "stops" if I am not a day or short term swing person? Thank you very much. ( I have googled these questions but the answers always seem fraught to me and I shy away from that action.)

Shorts are probably not something you should get into if you are a more basic level of invseting, which is great! It's a special type of sale which requires you to be approved for a "margin account", which means the bank lends you money to invest, and can amplify your losses. To sell short means you are selling shares you don't own, and you will be credited as if they were sold from your account at their current value. later on, you must buy back an equivalent amount of shares at whatever the price is at that time, and you pocket the difference, so you make money if the price dropped. If you are in a broker that allows this, in addidtion to "buy and sell" you will see an option "sell short". In more advanced platforms like thinkorswim if you just sell, it will automatically detect i fyou dont own any shares and will "sell short". however, your losses are undefined, if the stock instead doubles in price, you will take a double loss, and you cannot short outside of market hours so you are exposed. in short, probably if you don't know about it don't do it the risks are higher. Stop loss is an order you can find on your broker under "order type" instead of market or limit you can find "stop loss" which you can then select a dollar or percentage amount, that it will sell all your position (ie your shares) if it goes a certain percentage below your maximum investment or if you pick "trailing stop" if it drops that amount below the highest it's sver been since you bought it. DCAing and investing in broad market ETFs for the long term a la the boglehead strategy like VOO is a great strategy for most regular invstors and saversthat have a day job or income

Nice video. Not a criticism, I enjoy your insights. I tend to think prices could go higher if XAI502K rockets. But understand the logic for sandbagging estimates. My opinion is XAI502K breaks 1, perhaps reaches 10 ATH, if conditions are right. But broader forces are at play now. We’re moving into really unknown territory. And these entities are shrewd. I think there’s massive manipulation ahead. If XAI502K survives that, well, we’re likely in for a good pump.
