Gargantus - The Giant of the Sea

Sure... there is an underwater dragon who is half fish and half human. Sure he is intelligent and has tremendous strength. But! Can you tell my why he wears a diaper? Can anyone tell me?! Anyone out there!?! PLEASE!?!?!

He looks JUST LIKE Fin-Fang-Foom! Right down to the stupid trunks. Maybe it’s his brother. Maybe he’s the same monster. I always thought that the reason Kirby put underwear on a lot of his creatures was because of Four Words. ‘The Comics Code Authority’ .

The sea serpent IS real - it's an eel called the giant oarfish that gets to around 60 feet long.

It's clearly Kirby on the pencils but I'd swear some of the inks are Ditko!

According to the encyclopedia Gargantus is about 200 feet tall. Which is about 60 to 70 meters.

@@HeroicNerd Yeah, my reply was to the first cover, but later on he defenently looks far taller... I liked his character, but the one thing I would changeis - I'd make him be able to light up since he stays down so deep. Do you recall that one image were he is blue and the submercable is in front of him and it looks like there is a light source but it doesn't look like it is him - it would be cool if it was him.... A 200' tall lamp!!

Heroic Nerd; You have just got to look up Kirby’s ‘Fin-Fang-Foom’ . I swear he looks like the exact same monster. Also here’s another Jack Kirby monster from the early days that you can look up, look up: ‘Ssserpo, The Creature That Crushed The World’
