"Jyske land" doesn't mean land of jews, but is simply refering to the peninsula of Jutland.

@@sorenlrs The lyrics does not say jyske land but judiska land, so the translation to jewish land is correct. Its hard for a speaker of modern swedish (like me) to say exactly what this refers to as the expression is long gone nowadaysThe most likely alternatives are Homelessness, being driven from home. as israel was still a century or two away when the oldest known versions of this song was written down, so the jews wandered around without a land of their own. Or it could just refer to a generic strange faraway country that definitely is not home -with no school and poor education most common people could not name anything but the closest countries. if that. But everyone had been thoroughly schooled in bible stories by priests. Another alternative is that it refers to how jews in sweden in the early days was seen as very low status nomadic peddlers&vagabonds (they were mentioned in laws alongside gypsies and other traveling peoples. People that allowed them to stay on their land was heavily fined). Initially (after they stopped executing them when caught) they were only allowed to stay inside sweden 14 days at a time and then physically thrown out over the border. Later they were restricted to stay in one of 3 cities. Basically Jews back then was not treated very nice. With this interpretation we once again get back to the homelessness and driven out angle. Of course it could also refer to that she was sold, and the slavery of jews in the bible was the only slavery known in sweden at the time. Slavery became illegal in sweden 1335 when the thralldom of the pagan days was abolished, and the only slaves in sweden after that was those visiting nobles brought with them and the government pretended not to see. So it could be a metaphor for wandering in slavery

Filmed 1994. After some years with little activity garmarna are back. Did a new album in 2016 and another is to be released in fall 2019. Emma is more than alive and have apart from Garmarna also just released a new album with Triakel justa few weeks ago and with Breda Gatan in May 2019.
