I got to see the entire series on American TV back in the 1970's and while there wee probably things that were censored for American TV, the series was STILL a cut above anything else that played on TV at that time. The series had a great story, greater action, some haunting music and in general it just reached out to your heart in way no other series could. It's a true part of science fiction history.

+Kain Nosgoth AMEN! It's bizarre to me that as popular as it was/is that it was never made into a live action movie sooner than it was. I guess in a way "Battlestar Galactica" was the American homage to "Star Blazers".
@kainnosgoth73368 жыл бұрын
***** Possible, but with Battlestar Galactica, it was the remnants of the ancient human race heading back home for Earth to re-establish contact after centuries in space. Star Blazers on the other hand was about a group of Earth Defense Force soldiers trying to save Earth from the invasion of another race. Battlestar Galactica did, however, have the distinction of being the first show where over a million dollars was spent for effects each episode, or so it was said.

Kain Nosgoth Yep. I just did a quick search on a comparison between the two and there are several articles already written about it. Someone always beats me to an interesting idea ... actually several did this time.

***** True, ya' gotta' get up real early in the morning to beat some of these guys to the punch when it comes to story creation. Another thing that made Star Blazers so good is that it was actually a series that had continuity from episode to episode, and a continuing story. as well as characters you could feel for. It wasn't a cartoon, it was a space soap opera in many ways. And it had that rouiusing theme song too!

I just hand an interesting idea for a space carrier (I.E. a fighter carrier in the vacuum of space). Instead of going with the traditional landing strip design which we see here, use tubes. Have giant (~50M wide) tubes lined with extendable/retractable docking systems and have the entire tube act as a form of railgun, this would propel the fighter to speed while also clearing the tube making the next launch viable, there may also be a way to launch several fighters at one time by having them interlink in the middle and then separate when they are at sufficient distance to do so. This would have the ability to carry absolutely ludicrous numbers of fighters in multiple tubes, meaning that one carrier could carry potentially dozens of individual squadrons (depending on how large the carrier is) and aside from the point defense systems (which are obviously required) the escort ships (I.E. destroyers, frigates, cruisers, supply ships, etc.) would make up the larger battle fleet. Couple that with the potential of some form of battleship and you would have an interstellar navy to be reckoned with. As for designing battleships, I think Jack Anderson on Quora did a pretty good job www.quora.com/Many-space-faring-battleships-in-fiction-seem-to-be-modeled-like-naval-ships-with-broadsides-and-turrets-only-along-the-top-How-would-you-go-about-designing-a-science-fiction-battleship-that-could-actually-perform this is basically the idea.

Just look how Leijimeters did passed on to this rebooted Series. where Leiji Matsumoto himself did not get involved in this 2199 (not sure if he did train any apprentices and that apprentices in question have worked with Nishizaki on this one) project AT ALL. Not many animes make uses of this iconic Leijimeters outside Leiji's works which he still used this designs even today.

to be fair these carriers are stated to be old ships , i guess they were about to be scraped if the Yamato didnt make almost the complete Gamilas Fleet stranded , since we dont see this carriers anywhere else in the show my guess is that these where the last types they had

@@shadowsayan3454 *SPOILER* They reappear in 2202 with the final gamilas bastion against Gatlantis, they weren't replaced, and with the Time Fault they certainly could've afforded to. They appear to be carriers of the line, not old outdated ships. These were just so happening to be the only ones available for Domel, as the entire navy was trapped at Balun after Yamato destroyed the warp gate. Domel does say though that his crew were just the young and old left, probably reservists, as most were on the ships trapped at Balun.

@@briantien7146 not so, even during the Gatlantis-Earth War, Gaiperon is still very rare compared to the much more practical and powerful Gelvades and even the lend leased Neu Balgray class. The only explanation is that Garmillas used them as meat shield against the suicide ship attacks like Eater I and Genocide Slave, or they're throwing everything that they have to stop those spammy Gatlantis fleets because they're desperate and starting to ran out of ships.
@briantien71464 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanferiza8966 The Gelvades Class are battlecarriers, not fleet carriers. They are two separate ship types with their own roles. Gelvades battlecarriers can only launch a few craft since they also carry weapons, stowed inside the ship no less. The Neu Balgray class were a limited emergency production run, where they standardised fleet production to make it faster. Gamilas couldn't afford to field them long term. And If I recall correctly, only a few were present, under Berger. Also under Berger, those Gelvades were present since they were the only Gamilas-designed ship that could launch heavy bombers armed with drill missiles. They couldn't possibly launch enough with just the Neu Balgray class and had to be supported by Gelvades. With such heavy numbers, it would be suicide for the Gaiperon to be at the frontline. Again it's a carrier. It a surprise you would see one at the front at all.
@jonathanferiza89664 жыл бұрын
@@briantien7146 Ah yes, for the fleet carriers, there's Polmeria class and it was used extensively even at backwaters like Solar System and it carries much more potent types of aircrafts compared to those of Gaiperon.
