Garmin Alpha Dog Collar Series (Alpha 200i, Alpha 100, TT 15 Collar)

Totally new to all of this. Grew up in a hockey family so we never had dogs while growing up. Got my first dog at 16 total house pet and i got lucky he wasn't hard at all to train. I now have 2 dogs and both have proven my lack of knowledge as to how to be a handler or dog trainer/ owner. Been told to get a collar but dont know where to start. I own property in the national forest in northern Wisconsin and would kinda like to be able to track them because of their range. They do both always come back but its at their own pace. Dont need a professional system but also want something more than just a buzz collar. Any help is appreciated

Can you set geofences around your house and use it like an underground fence?

I’ve had the alpha 100 with a bunch of TT15 collars since 2012 the geofencing only alerts the hand held and not the dog so it’s pretty pointless. It’s frustrating that garmin won’t make it to it at least beeps the dog when they go outside the boundaries. I’m now looking for a different system to replace the garmin that actually makes sense.

Is this device compatible with GPS device made by garmin such as the GPS maps 66 series? I already own that unit and its quite versatile does it sync up with a collar? Cheers

Unfortunately it can't. It does connect to the new 700i though.

Just bought the alpha 200i and tt15 off your website. They are both charging right now. Do you have any training videos for someone that has never trained in American foxhound. I will not be treeing bears most likely with one dog, Lucy is a rescue purebred American foxhound given to us. I just need Lucy to track a deer if I don't get a drop shot on him first thing. Do you have training videos? Or do you know trainers in the molalla Oregon area experienced with training hounds with your system.

We don't have any training videos. We just sell the garmin alpha products, and unfortunately none of us run hounds. Sorry we could not be more helpful.

Nice video. The 9 mile range is only in perfect conditions. I saw that in reality the range is near 2 miles. Do you have any real life range numbers?

I have had the trashbreaker for years loved the simplicity went to the 200I for tracking when snowshoe hare hunting . Love the locating feature I hate the complicated mess it throws you into. For instance. If I want to turn on the collar light. I want to push a training key and have the light go on. I don't want to answer 10 questions on what kind of light I wasn't I just want the damn thing to go on. I have watched all the youtube tutorials they have not helped. I still don't know how to down load a satellite map. the guy on the tutorial just says here is one i downloaded (how the hell he did it. he don't tell you' Very unhappy with a large out lay of cash.

There are restrictions of what country you can use certain Garmin models in, it's best to check in your area because the laws do change frequently so we suggest understanding your local laws before buying.
