I first reviewed the Black Titanium Sapphire version Garmin Epix 2 when it first came out a little over a year ago and then ordered the white one shortly thereafter. Here's how it's holding up after a little more than a year.

Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 is the best watch I ever had. I have 51mm and the battery life lasts 12 days, with allways on display and training every day. Materials, display, hotkeys, morning report and other functions are awesome. If you own Epix Pro gen 2, you wont have a need of another watch anymore. Thank you Garmin.

I can tell you this: I have tried several Amoled top products from the brands in the market : samsung w5 pro ( bad for sports), Huawei gt3 pro (very accurate but they dont care about users), amazfit ( pretty but very innacurate) and always come back to Garmin. Epix is the first that puts all the good stuff together. But what I think it makes the whole difference and make me paid the ultra high premium price is that software keeps evolving. The updates bring new stuff and problems are solved on a regular basis. I'm tired of companies that want us to buy a new watch every year. I prefer pay the double and have the watch for a longer period

Just picked up my Epix2 three weeks ago at Best Buy for $650, and I absolutely love it. Coming from a Fenix 6 Pro Solar, there's really no comparison. And I really enjoyed the Fenix. But this upgrade was a huge leap forward for me. The screen, sapphire, and titanium. The watch is very noticeably lighter than the stainless steel Fenix 6. 😂The Epix2 has better battery life, I was getting 10 days on the Fenix with my workouts, and now I'm getting 14 on the Epix2.

Nice Feedback video...Had my Epix Gen 2 just over a year now and is my daily wearable. For sport I mainly use it for cycling and it is perfect. Never had an issue with the emoled display even in direct sunlight. I mounted mine on the handlebar. Believe me lost of bright sunlight in South Africa 😊. However I still use my Appraoch S62 for Sunday morning golf, but that is 5 hours out of the week. So still very happy with the Epix. Thanx for the review.

My first Garmin was Fenix 3, I have had other Suunto, Apple, Garmin watches. As a current Epix Gen 2 Black owner I am happy with this watch. As a former pro athlete I enjoy simplicity and at time s am over whelmed with all the data/widgets. Not sure how reliable the algorithms are but it is 2023 and watches are evolving. I look forward to when Garmin allows all high end watches to have the ability to talk and text on. Once they do this then they will be at the top of the Sports Watch Market. Garmin are you listening?

I just bought the Epix Gen 2 on ebay at a discount and am waiting for it to arrive. For it being a year old doesn't really matter much to me as I am not a hardcore athlete who need the latest and greatest. I used the Epix since she came out. But i switched now to the Apple Watch Ultra as my daily driver. I still miss some features from the Epix (espacially training readyness, predictions and regeneration) but i do use the „smart features“ more often during a day. To set a timer or calender with voicecommand, making phone calls, answering notifications, etc. just on the watch is really comfortable and useful for me. But to be honest, I am not absolutly happy with the Ultra and perhaps i switch again to Garmin if they create a watch with all the excellent training features from the Epix and the „smartness“ of Apples Ultra.. 👌😉

I had black one and than switched to the white one. I had all models of f6 and f7 series, and I would say that Epix is the best right now. Never worried about battery life, because I don't go for the North Pole expeditions every 2 weeks. And never worried about the scratches and dents, I have minor web like scratches after strongs hits, but no any scratch on a sapphire glass, even after hits. 24/7 heart rate monitor, approx 1 hour daily workouts indoor or ourdoors - with proper settings my epix lasts 20+ days in one charge. So I can charge my watches every 3 weeks, I see no problems. Can't switch back to mips screens and never think about it. Solar feature on this model looks useless imo, the only thing I'm missing from f7x is a built-in flashlight. Now, I want to try 965, but have to wait 4+ weeks ))). Ps. Matt, as always great video! Thanks. ✊️

Nice review! I have the Black Titanium Sapphire and all I can say this is the best sport watch I have ever owned and have nothing really to complain about. One thing I would mention that for most accurate readings you must have a pulse band (the HRV values could be a bit off using the watch only). I also had one time it got stucked after swimming, I could not save my results, when I was in a spa-thermal lake. Somehow it could not detect the band on my body, it lost the connection and I had to reset it. Maybe the water did something? I do not know... This thermal water can oxidize silver and other metals, maybe it was a part of it... The battery has plenty of power and charges really fast. It has been a year now and my sapphire glass did not have a single scratch either, even though it has been heavily used. The Garmin connect statistics are way ahead compare to its compatitors and I personally love that you can join with other Garmin users, follow each others' trainings, get inspired, collect badges and points like in a normal video game but you actually have to put hard physical work in the process, not just your thumb is moving... :D

@@moksavideo2238 - There are things you could could try. If it were me, I'd probably just set it to run, and maybe add the push ups and pull ups in a description somewhere. Hi. I have an instinct 2x white. I'm planning on getting a epix pro 51mm. I know it's a very personal choice, but which one do you feel is less prone to scratches and wears better with other wrist bands, in different colors? The white version, or the black one? Titanium. Thanks!!!

EPIX is a great watch. But I was envious about MIP display on my wife’s Fenix6S when we were on a beach. So I returned to the classic and bought Enduro2. Now I’m fighting with myself about it I should use Enduro or Watch Ultra. As one is better then the other in such a different way. Maybe MARQ could be something in between.

@3:17 46mm? I think it's rather 47mm (DesFit measured 47.1). I wish they would reduce the bezel little bit to make it more compact. The GPS auto mode uses more battery than GPS only so I'd avoid it unless you are in areas like Yosemite where I did see issues. The one downside with AMOLED besides battery life, is that in very bright conditions the always on display is almost unreadable unless you use gesture control. Also I wish they allowed white background for the data pages (I understand burn-in problems though), but at least the map isn't.
@mlegrand

I just measured it at 47.1 and it's actually wider if you take into account the buttons. So button edge to button edge it's closer to 50mm. Thanks for the correction Luc!

Compulsive/Impulsive buyer in me is so so wanting to buy EPIX Gen2 for couple of weeks now and I shut him up saying it is overkill for what I do (Even the FR255 is) and continue with AW SE. Just last night I watched, again, your EPIX Gen-2 review. I “had” convinced that impulsive buyer in me that EPIX is not for me. Looks like universe wants me to buy it because why on earth your EPIX after 1 year video pops up on my KZbin page as soon as I picked my iPad?!! :). I am going to show your review and this video to my wife if she makes faces at me when I open the box in front of her :) :) So it’s your fault, Matt ;) ;). Having said that just nervous thinking what EPIX Gen 3 might have in it and should I wait for few more months to see if Garmin releases next version.
