Now there’s an easy, affordable way to replace your old-style, gyro-based mechanical flight instrumentation with a reliable all-digital glass solution. The Garmin G5 electronic flight instrument offers drop-in replacement for standard 3-1/8” indicators in type-certificated fixed-wing aircraft and can be configured for use as an attitude indicator, heading indicator/HSI or turn coordinator instrument. It’s approved for flight under VFR and IFR conditions, and it takes up just a fraction of the space and weight previously required by conventional gyro indicators. You can select from an array of approved installation configurations incorporating single or dual G5 displays. And when paired with our GFC™ 500 digital autopilot, G5 offers silky-smooth flight control and advanced, safety-enhancing capabilities at an unprecedented level of affordability for light GA aircraft. Find out more at: buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/570665
• Replaces traditional electromechanical instruments; can be configured in attitude, DG/HI/HSI and turn coordinator positions
• Bright, sunlight-readable 3.5” LCD color display, sized to fit standard 3-1/8” instrument cutout
• Certified via approved model list (AML) for STC’d installation on more than 560 aircraft makes and models
• Includes a 4-hour backup battery with battery status indicator
• Dual G5 installation offers reversionary display capability plus the added redundancy of dual ADAHRS and dual backup batteries

I'm buying into a club with a dual G5 setup in a Cherokee 180. As an instrument student coming from a non-standard 6-pack in a 1966 Cherokee, these dual G5s are simply astounding. Absolutely amazing how much this is going to simplify IFR flight paired with the 750. Good on ya, Garmin - bravo!

It is a great avionics suite although quite simple. I hopefully to see several aircraft being converted here in Brazil for this one.

Nice...but Garmin has a weird--and expensive--way of defining affordable. I'm glad they're finally getting competition from Dynon, Bendix/King & Avidyne.

I mean it costs $1350 on sportys. If you compare that to a traditional vacuum attitude indicator its only 400-600 dollars more, which makes sense since you also get airspeed and altitude with it and its more reliable. Now a g1000 is a rip off compared to dynon that I do agree with

Does the altimeter setting that you put into the primary altimeter's Kollsman window automatically transfer to the G5 or must you also set the atmospheric pressure separately into the G5? Very nice avionics!

We have lots of great options for you! The G5 is a great starting point. There are a couple of versions of it - it offers a replacement for your existing Attitude Indicator and for your Directional Gyro. Not only does it remove the dependency from failure-prone gyro instruments, in a lot of cases, the Garmin dealer is able to remove the vacuum system entirely. Check them out here: buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/570665/pn/K10-00280-00#overview We also offer a series of cost effective navigators that offer LPV approach capability. Well, Garmin is in business to make money and they will charge what the market will bear. Plz remember that liability insurance and the approval processes can be a significant portion of the cost of bringing new equipment to the general aviation market.
