My wife just got me this for xmas. This is the most high tech badass watch. Feels like getting my first iPhone.

Holy crap this feature is going to be amazing while doing prescribed burns as a wildland firefighter. We have to shoot a visual bearing and walk straight lines through the forest best we can so that we can keep spacing from the previous burner to keep an even and straight controllable grid. This is great!

Hi Chris, I’m really glad to hear it! I love this feature, and hope it serves you well. Thanks for what you do as a firefighter. I appreciate you taking time to leave a positive comment, and hope you have a great day!

Thanks for the shout out. Yes, this is my favorite nav tool when hunting. I shoot a line of "march" when up high in my climbing stand. Then when I get down below the tree canopy, I can wonder all about while tracking blood sign, and know I'll always know which way is out.

When you shoot the asmith how far is the point away. Is there like a Lazer feature? I'm new to this, how does the watch know where you are pointing?

how far out does it target your azimuth? Because obviously that will vary wildly if the target of your azimuth is 10 ft away or 1000

Great series. I just got an insight and even though its already older gen product I love it so much more than both fitbit and applewatch. This series is helping get so much more out of the device.

Is it true that you have to have the garmin app open and running when you are using your watch?
@CoastieOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jayloiselle, thank you for your question. That is actually NOT true and is one of the benefits of using a Garmin over an Apple Watch. The instinct can operate 100% free of a phone. I’d be honored with your subscription if you haven’t already and hope you have a great day!

Your video would have been better if you did the whole procedure from the start while you were outside, how to point the watch to get a sight, and then how to follow it. And also make sure we can see whitch buttons you are pushing.

Is this watch touch screen. Is it worth buying the solar? Thank you.
@CoastieOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, great questions! This watch is not touch screen, and with the drop in price for the solar version - I would recommend getting that, although you can't go wrong with the regular like I have either. I hope that helps and I would be honored with your subscription if you have not already. Have a great day!

@@CoastieOutdoors It's a shame they haven't invented monochrome like feature in color. I used to have a Garmin vivoactive with monochrome but it's a very bland looking watch. But I've since bought a vibrant screen watch but I hate having to flick my wrist and waiting for the screen to light up. Guess I'll wait and see what next. The Trex looks good with a always on screen.

@@CoastieOutdoors I’ve had my G.I.T.S. for a couple of years now. I haven’t ever really used it much at all for GPS or navigation. I’ve noticed that the solar charging aspect of the watch does not come anywhere near to keeping the watch at a full charge-even though I have a lot of functionality disabled (such as Bluetooth) to save battery life. Is that your experience with this watch? Is the solar charging function there merely to slow the draining of the battery, and is it not even intended to be able to truly charge the watch back up?
@peacefuljeffrey Жыл бұрын
D’oh! I just realized that you said that you don’t have the solar version. So the question is open to anyone who does. Thanks.

how did u put the distance? should i use the phone?
@CoastieOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, thank you for your question and support of the channel. for sight n' go the distance is automatically put in at 50 miles. If you hold the GPS in the top right, you can mark a location along your sight and put in the distance that way on your watch without needing your phone. I hope that helps! I would be honored with your subscription if you haven't already, and hope you have a great day!

What app this use for the watch?
@abghg66777 Жыл бұрын
I wish they will upgrade the instinct 2 solar build for stainless steel buttons and back opened with small screws and stainless Basel in the front. Like the Casio Potrek prw 3100 which has great case . The solar is huge since as a normal watch you do not have to use external charger which is a major major major yes why to buy it instead of the solar protrek. If Garmin will copy the Casio protrek prw 3100 case to the instinct 2 solar you will get the best army watch . People then will go with Garmin instead of Casio leaving Polar and Sunto field watches far being also in regard to casing durability . Today the opening of the Garmin instinct 2 is not very nice since there are no screws . Though no one will probably open a solar watch still it is nice to know it has screws for opening as a standard .
