How readable is the display outdoors in sunlight? And how does readability compare to the OLED screen of the Vivomove Style?
@paulotex19 Жыл бұрын
It does charge on an Apple iPhone wireless charger (although not on an Apple Watch charger). The main disadvantage is that this particular color (Gray/Black) has very low contrast between the hands and the background. Hard to read the time when indoors.
@MilkyWay4286 ай бұрын
This low contrast also applies to the Vivomove Style (e.g. silver watch face with silver hands??? Who was the genius to suggest that?? And this from a Swiss watch company ....)

Great review. Does the watch record all necessary data to calculate a training readiness score? I know the score will not be visible on the watch, but will it be populated in the GarminConnect app? hmmm i'm trying to decide if its worth it over the sport. The sport's low price tag is defnitly alluring, but the bigger display on the trend looks nice, and might be worth it. Hwoever, I will probably just be looking at stats on my phone anyway so...
@GreatIaker Жыл бұрын
Nice review, thanks. How do you think it compares to the Vívomove Style? At first glance I think I would take the Trend's larger, higher resolution LCD display and slightly newer feature set over the Style's lower resolution colour AMOLED display. Outdoor readability would be a big factor.
@Aviioniic Жыл бұрын
Kind of a hard choice tbh, personally, I'm tempted to buy a trend and use it instead of my vivomove style, the usb-c, wireless charging and better display are definetly an upgrade. But I don't know about the size, 2mm smaller than the style... A monochrome display is okay with me though. All round it seems to me like this is a successor to the Sport/S model rather than a Vivomove Luxe/style model
@GreatIaker Жыл бұрын
That brings up the question of whether there will be an updated Vívomove Style retaining the colour AMOLED display but with the higher 254 x 346 resolution plus Qi charging and Sleep Score.
@Aviioniic Жыл бұрын
@@GreatIaker Honestly, i wouldn't mind a monochrome LCD display, as long as it has a better refresh rate/brightness/resolution. So long as it feels better to interact with the display, i consider it an upgrade, the color never felt too relevant to the vivomove style anyway. As long as we get wireless charging, usb-c, battery improvements... I'm totally okay with that. But mostly software needs to be worked on, things like the media player don't work too well and I feel there is lots of wasted potential

I personally think that even tho this is new, Style is still a better option. Features it offers are basically the same except this has wireless charging and honestly i don't get why everybody is so hyped about that, to me it's always just a pointless gimmick, its simply slower wired charger that doesn't attach properly. Other big difference i see is the size and materials used. I personally like my watch small and Trend is smaller buut at the same time it's body is made of plastic, same as sport and only the ring on the watch face is made out of steel while the whole body of Style is made of Aluminium and has gorila glass in front which is a big upgrade to me. If the display is colorful or has a bit more pixels isn't really important to me. i wonder if there is some difference in battery consumption tho.

I wish they made this in a 44mm option, which looks like the vivomove luxe was, but that’s been discontinued :/

I'm in the same exact situation! I want this but I don't think it's worth buying tech that is 2y old since all functions and connections will be pretty old. I've been using that watch for over 10months now and I looove it! ONE thing that bother me, if all functions are ativated... battery won't last over 48hours. I only keeps heartrate ON and the battery last for 4-5 sometimes 6 days. For me, a smartwatch should show only minimum information but the important one and shouldn't need to be charge to often and Garmin got me with that. Probably one of the best hybrid watches out there i am just curious how long does the battery last since that is one of the reasons to buy a hybrid. Another reason is style and i mean i just wish they would do a bit more with it, to make it look a bit more classy like a nice timepiece. Like this it is a bit too simplistic and all that empty space in the middle just screams that it is actually a smartwatch screen, they didn't have to bother with those mechanical hands at all if it looks like this. I like the style of Fossil hybrids more but those are a bit too slow and lack features and accuracy.

And for notifications it's not all that usable. Right now I am running Fossil Hybrid watch which is pretty neat cause it has e ink display and lasts like two weeks on battery. Sadly it's kind of slow and doesn't have NFC. So I hoped this Garmin watch would be like an upgrade except the battery isn't as good sadly.
