Garmin Vivosmart Band replacement trick

Thanks for this great trick! You are a life saver - I was getting super frustrated trying to attach the replacement watchband. Couldn’t get an authentic Garmin band in Oz so had to resort to Chinese copy. Needless to say, no instructions provided.

Thanks that 3 prong clip was the issue. Simple to take out make sure the screws are out first.

I can not get the screws out with the screwdriver sent with the replacement band any ideas on how to get them out?

more than likely you would need to get your hands on something like a 40 in screw driver kit and go through the various ends it comes with

​​@@MyrtheDVI just got a Vivosmart 4 and didn't realize they designed these with non replaceable bands, never thought that would be a thing. It seems if the band breaks, it needs to be sent back to Garmin as a warranty replacement, but only if it's within a year. The aftermarket only had some odd replacement band that required cutting off the remnants of the original band with scissors, and then slipping the stubs inside the replacement band to retain it, which seemed hokey even if it worked. Strange design decision by Garmin in these captive bands.

@@sadfur8728 I eventually decided on a FitBit Inspire 2 and have been very happy with it so far. Have had it for 2 years already but the band it came with hasn't broken yet and if so, they are replaceable. It's a very inconvenient choice that Garmin made for the customers to not be able to switch out band yourself

I think that not a vivosmart3 since at has 2 screw each side instead of 1
