I sew as a hobby and these videos have been very helpful for inspiration, thanks for uploading.

While I'm not sure I'm a fan of this particular design it opened my eyes to how things can be done. I've long been looking for a proper winter jacket/coat. Thanks for expanding my horizons. I will definitely have an eye out for this brand.

Good idea re ventile lining. What lets Barbour down for me( and i have an old one) is the nylon sleeve lining. Any exertion and you have damp arms.

Indeed, those synthetic linings are pretty crummy. They get worn and smelly as well over time!

Hi Nick ! Just found your channel. Loving your content ! I was just wondering do you own many denim jackets and do you collect much Japanese repro or Japanese brands in general ! I've just started collecting jackets, really into denim jackets ATM and would love to know your thoughts.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the feedback! I have to admit, I love good jeans, but I've never got into denim jackets. It's a case of not being able to say why really, as they should be in my scope, but maybe I'm not the right guy? I have some Japanese-made things and appreciate the detail and care that goes into them. Much of the repro leaves me cold though, as in many it's cheaper and more interesting to buy vintage originals. When it comes to jeans though, it's Japanese denim all the way.

@@GarmologyVideo thanks so much for replying ! I really love how passionate you you are about the stuff you like, wouldn't it be boring if everybody liked the same thing. Unfortunately I live in New Zealand and we really don't have a good vintage workwear selection but I have been thinking that a few Japanese brands your are paying more for their name than the product itself these days. Keep up with the amazing videos, some of the live chats have been very informative !

@@bruceh7554 I think it's definitely the case that there is a premium on Japanese products. It's also a matter of exactly how authentic do things need to be? One thing is having an actually original item in flawless condition, but painstakingly recreating it will still not be an original, regardless of the effort put into it. I'm not knocking fans of Real McCoys, but personally, I don't see it. Thanks again for great feedback!

@@GarmologyVideo you make a great point.i went to there store in Tokyo but couldn't bring my self to spend that much money on there jackets especially with jackets like the m65 I couldn't justify why I'd pay probably triple the amount of what it might have originally costed when they were produced.
@GarmologyVideo3 жыл бұрын
@@bruceh7554 Probably more like 10-20x what they originally cost. I imagine the army purchasers drove a hard bargain on their contracts and were less fussy about details that only later appear totally arcane!

Thanks nice review. Not worth it at my stage of life, but maybe in the future. However the slanted chest pockets are not for me. Seen it adopted in too many military style Japanese jackets over the last few years. I'd prefer just one straight chest pocket. More classy in my opinion.

They're made to order, so straight pockets are just a matter of requesting a slight modification. The wonder of small making and being able to talk to the actual real people that are making something for you!
