For the next show (if you read this), not taking the p**s, genuinely asking (specifically Rio since he was a great defender): How did Liverpool reach 3 UCL finals and acquire more than 90 points three times (winning a CL and a PL) if TAA is that bad as a defender? Not to mention LFC's defensive record is second only to Arsenal's this season, having conceded one more after playing way more hard away games (notably City, Newcastle, Spurs and Chelsea). One theory I have is while TAA is jarring to watch one-on-one, the system is actually organised well around him, and his main job is just to ensure his inadequacies don't lead directly to goals too often. And while I respect you guys' right to an opinion, I would appreciate it if you guys just let Rio speak on this one without interrupting him for a while because I'd love to know in detail from an expert's perspective.

Great show 💥 G Nev too disrespected, unappreciated & underrated. He doesn't help himself by always playing himself down. He was a solid fullback, aggressive, tenacious & tough. He was consistent, reliable & resilient. Success/Trophies/Accolades + Consistency + Longevity + Leadership/Contribution etc.. All boxes ticked ☑️ Levels to this Joel xo He did get spun a few times & he did made a mistake or 2 in his career but that's normal 😆 If he wasn't good SAF wouldn't have played/kept him for so long. He could tackle/defend, pass & he was a great crosser of the ball too, it was different to Beckham's it had like a whip to it. If it wasn't Beckham running in from the wing it would be G Nev who would dart in overlap & deliver his trademark cross. The game has changed but we judge players in the era they played in. A lot these RB's are good but they haven't played/achieved/experienced enough to be compared to those who are solidified/certified/accomplished.

I think Fans not caring as much is literally a situation of Haaland setting such a high standard for himself last season(especially at the early stages); and because he's not really gotten to that level this season, fans just don't care as much, even though if any other striker was putting up the numbers he's putting up this season, the EPL would be going nuts... The crazy thing is that Haaland is still on course to score as many goals as he scored in the league last season.

I think Neville is partly to blame for how much he is disrespected, how humble and self-deprecating he is as pundit leads people who never watched him to think he was some mid-tier defender. You dont do what he did in a ferguson team for as long as he did if you're some mid level RB. His positional sense was amazing, and his overlaps were elite in the 90s and early 2000s. He was a stalwart. I'd gladly take a RB who gives me 7/8 out of 10 every match than someone who is 9/10 one week then 4/10 the next

From a pure technical perspective it’s probably Garnacho, Rooney’s goal however was scored with less space as he was practically between two city players, he also scored that goal in a high pressure derby situation against a very good Man City team that won us the game, great goals for me are not rated simply from technique, it’s also down to how important they were and the quality of team you scored against.

Defensively, for certain. @davidgriffith1552 People forget he made his England debut before Beckham and Scholes. He was a big part of Eng euro 96 team. He was holding out as long as he could and then all of a sudden we were surprised he wasn’t going after similar profile players when it didn’t happen. Even let zidane and garner go who slme thought could do the Dejong role. Maybe the scouting department told him we have an even more physical and defensive Dejong player within the academy or he saw it himself and the plan was to get his Dejong type player(Maino) imbedded in the squad this season but then the injury happened. And maybe Amrabat is just a more experienced version to mainoo that’s less gifted but can play more games and we ease mainoo in bit by bit since he’s so young. Seems too perfect but who knows.

Kobbie Mainoo moves, and Plays, like a Paul Pogba, with work ethic. Best mixture of both Aggression, and Skill along with a work ethic that shows up some of the more Senior Players, to come in at 18yrs old, and Boss the Game from start to finish, Goal line clearances, Tackles, Passing forwards, all the time

Trippier over Neville as a pure defender is a wild take but in fairness I could name David Ginola.. he destroyed Neville in the league cup game at White Hart Lane (98/99)

Nothing but love for Joel but as an arsenal fan, he doesn't speak for all of us 😂😂😂 Havertz has the potential to be an important player for us but has a ways to go before we can big him up. Also, the Gary Neville take was WILD. Nevs is a legend.
