Garou The Cosmic Monster - Analyzing One Punch Man

In this video I go over Garou, how strong he is and from a character perspective as well since he's my favorite One Punch Man character I like to talk about him and this was the best I could put forward for his power without getting to much into head canon or really really wanked arguments. I don't know if i'll do any OPM content in the future but yea here it is.

Garou’s growth and development in both strength and character was one of the best rides I had in a while. His round about way of creating world peace by forcing humanity to a United front against him was really interesting. Hope to still see more of him in the future.

It's literally stated by the narrator and shown with the panel of Genos core though that Saitama began to grow exponentially due to an upsurge of emotion he had never felt before, because Genos died and he felt so much raw, painful anger and grief that he tried to wipe Garou off the face of the planet then and there. It is stated by Saitama himself that he feels no excitement from the Garou versus him fight, therefore the thrill of the fight that he is not experiencing is not possibly the cause for his exponential growth that was caused by upsurge of emotion. He feels no thrill nor emotion about the fight itself. What causes the upsurge of emotion and growth is him actively protecting Genos core from harm during the fight. The harder Garou tried to beat him, the harder Saitama fought back.

@@anymations2509 It is the basis of Saitama's entire heroism, when he subconsciously made the decision to protect the fat-chinned kid from harm, at the expense of his own well-being and it's when he began the road to be a hero. Not because he was looking for the thrill of the fight. Something King also points out to him that heroism is not that, but Saitama has forgotten the reason why he originally became a hero.

@@Samochan So basically saitama is the peak of THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP, if you try to hurt his friend he'll come with more force so meaning his growth works when he needs to protect something and when he doesn't he'll one shot you. Maybe if he went against God and he didn't harm his friends and he got one shot, the only way for a long fight is to hurt his friend. Quite a complicated power if that was true

As King says, he's still immature in this aspect and how he views heroism and other aspects of his life, like his own loneliness. Btw garou didn't block the tackle from darkshine using the water fist he thought about using it and said it wouldn't work but then just got blitzed Also if I remember correctly after saitama punched gods power out of him he still had his cosmic armour but he still should've lost his powers, which means it should be equal to his current form and garou moved so fast the only one who could see him move was saitama and even flashy didn't see him so he might be above flashy still

@@jefffoster2134 This is the issue with Dragonball fans in some cases. There is issues with them doubting other series and the scaling because they think Dragonball is so powerful and impressive that it makes no sense to them that a series that feels portrayed weaker can be on the same level. Flashy Flash is literally a Blitzer. I've seen many Anime's where Light speed is either mentioned or Confirmed and characters might not even be Planet level. Example: Kizaru literal Light. You have characters in comics like Superman or the Flash who sometimes can get to crazy levels but sometimes are still Light speed with barely showing Planet Level feats in some cases. Judging Dragonball as like the stat measure I think is really dumb since in some of these Shows you have characters become Literal Gods who might Solo DB because they might be able to think them away or manipulate their existence or literally just be stronger and it all happens within the span of 12 episodes. I think this sort of Goku Solo's or Dragonball thing is a weird one that happens in the community where most people throw away God Characters and such and don't like comparing them or such as they feel they don't deserve to be that powerful compared to a character that has existed for years to gain their power or maybe some just think it's stupid but will be fine with comparing other characters based on popularity I really can't tell what it is what the true equation is. Is it like Interest is Popularity Divided by Time? Or Time + Popularity? I wonder. Like many Bleach characters are calc'd to Lightspeed I bet even if they might not even be physically or using their powers able to destroy a Country or Continent but that's just the speed of the series sometimes. I don't think using Dragonball as the idea of a scale is good because then you have characters that have instant feats or implied power that us as powerscalers Scale and figure out and then you have people saying like "Yeah I don't think this character is SSG level when they looking like this or being like this or something." I don't think it holds up being an argument. People could make their own made up character that blitzes and beats up Goku and boom they're beyond Immeasurable speed and Far beyond Multiversal. I'm sort of Joking but also not.

@@jefffoster2134 This is probably part of the issue with some fans when they compare Naruto or Ichigo to even PLANET LEVEL and wonder how they are Planet level because a Planet hasn't been destroyed in the series IIRC something Seth even mentions in his video scaling if Naruto could destroy a planet. And it's because they associate the idea of Planet level with either Mid-Late DB or like Z from either Vegeta-Frieza First-Final form or SSJ Goku and instantly think that if you can DEstroy a Planet you scale to that level when really it might be a bit more complicated than that. There is so much questions about Scaling. Hell I'm sure I could play a lot of fan games or some of these games which get pushed to massive levels in their scaling sometimes an see a character that is either Lightspeed or Planet level maybe some RPG's might have weapons with statements like "The Power to Shatter a Planet" and such things. Hell Pikachu is probably Lightspeed in the Pokémon Anime.

I know you don't really care to much about OPM but you're forgetting Saitama and Blast were holding back a lot even though Saitama said "at full power". Saitama was only using 1 hand and protecting Genos's core so its really not his full power and Blast was trying to protect the planet and other heroes. Garou does scale above everyone else though.

No saitama and cosmic garou actually had 1 for 1 fist exchanged and saitama could not dodge it at the same time Garou still tanks many of saitamas attacks and say what you want but you never seen him punch as hard in the anime or the manga as he did fighting garou so when he says "Im going out on a guy that can take my punches" than he really means it and since he is using 1 hand its still the same power output even if he used 2 hands and he does not have a fighting style so him throwing a punch with 1 hand is all he really does so 1 hand is all he really needs and yk garou was also gaining infinite strength too but not as fast as saitama this can be seen after jupiter was sneezed away when garou through his last punch at saitama that created a explosion bigger than jupiter which means Garou from his first punch also got hundreds of times stronger from fighting saitama but he could not catch up theres many factors at play but garou wasn't the type of character to fight other heroes who got stronger during their fight he was always about finding weakspots that was his biggest mistake and not utitilizing raw power initially.

And also stated himself he is going all out against cosmic garou. And you can still go all out without killing someone with intent which Goku is a prime example. "He was holding genos core and using 1 arm" again you can go all out in AP/Strength while using 1 arm, that is a physically possible thing you can do. Garou is good until he fights Darkshine then he comes back as monster Garou just to help metal bat, save people, be drawn in cute chibi style, still get beaten by Bang. He then gets God power ups, shitting on all his character development as he is no longer proving to the heroes he can beat them by himself. Which puts him no higher moral ground to expose the heroes hypocrisies, which he doesn't because when he finally becomes powerful he gets teleported to outer space to fight saitama. Then the manga becomes bad dragon ball as they erase the surface of Jupiter with sneezes, super sonic farts, and all of this doesn't matter since nobody witnessed this, the heroes barely know Garou is finally strong and guess what, they go back in time and erase this, essentially making it 100% irrelevant. What a great arc and character development
