Hackett does need to call better plays, but ultimately, you run the routes. Why would Aaron force-feed the ball? That doesn’t make sense. The key is getting open-route running means getting to the location where the ball needs to be, not freelancing. If Davante Adams joins, Wilson could learn a lot from him. Look at Lazard; he’s getting the ball because he gets open. It’s about the team, not just one player. That’s the issue with Breece now-they’re forcing the ball to him, and it’s affecting the overall performance.

The receiver that has gotten the most targets or the one that at least sticks most in the mind is Lazard. Rodgers feels comfortable throwing to someone he's already worked with previously. I don't think it's conscious, i think it's just instinctual. Wilson just needs to explode a big play and he'll start getting more looks. Right now it's just been too easy for opposing defenses to focus on him because everyone knows he's WR1 for the Jets. It surely doesn't help that Hackett as OC couldn't scheme a WR open even if his life depended on it.

I think teams are specifically game planning to take away GW. Rodgers is the type of QB that throws on the outside where the defense isn't. He won't force the ball just to get GW involved. Garrett is rarely open. THe routes he runs aren't working or he isn't working. He also is oblivious to the urgency of some routes, not even turning to look for the ball. The Jets need to finish the job they started when they dumped Zach for a song. Do a three way trade to bring Adams on board. Trade GW to the Texans. The Texans send a First Round Draft Pick to the Raiders and the Raiders send Adams to the Jets. That way the Jets will consist of a bunch of Old Farts looking for their last Pay Day and preparing to punch out after 2026. At that point the Jets will consist of a bunch of UDFAs, no up and coming Draft Prospects and 50 Million Dollars of available cap space over the next 4 years. GW will be tearing it up catching tons passes from CJ Stroud. Zach Wilson will be powering the Dolphins to winning season after winning season. And the Jets will 'Once Again' have the basement of the AFC sewn-up and in-the bag. By that time Saleh and Douglas will be long gone keeping company with Adam Gase and Mike McCagnon in Jet History.
