Alcorn wasn't half that bad, even pretty damn good....just needs numbers, especially the trumpets. Also good for SoD for not trying to overblow to match SU's size and volume. No SWAC or MEAC band can except JSU, and possibly TxSU (because Ocean BD Brian Simmons is an SU/Doc Greggs-produced grad). I leave out FAMU's Hundred, the NSU Spartan Legion, and BCU in that because their bands have a different sound philosophy than SU, but have the size and numbers to project themselves. Oh, but if the Jukes brought quads/quints into the Funk Factory.... (Yeah, I know, doesn't fit into SU's drill philosophy, but a man can dream).

I'd still say, though, that (1) every BD that came out of Southern post-Doc Greggs will have his system burned in him, as Lawrence Jackson and Nathan Haymer were Doc's products; and 2) even if he came later after Doc left, BSimmons to me is still the most Doc Greggs-like BD in terms of attitude. But, only my personal opinion. YMMV.
