From a musical standpoint the blue & yellow band had a lot of intonation issues almost to the point where they sounded like they were playing kazoos when they were what we professional musicians call “playing outside the beauty box”. Their mellos sometimes sounded like elephants. If they just stopped trying to blast, they would instantly sound better. The white & blue band, although obviously not as loud, had a much more musical and controlled sound. Also, their trumpet and mello lines sounded great and were mostly in tune! 🤷🏽 With that said, both were super fun to watch!

I think PV staff are wonderful recruiters and Directors but as arrangers they fail so bad. They write for small bands but they got a big band which means we as listeners expect big band arrangements.
