I've been a fan for years, and always wanted to ask since first hearing Wevie Stonder, is there any relation between St. Michael's Mount, and the Aphex Twin song Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount? Both albums came out the same year.

I bought "Eat Your Own Ears" on a whim and enjoyed it. Had no idea they had additional albums i'll check this one one. Something I'll add is i'm pretty sure the Brail thing is a Skam label thing because my Boards Of Canada cd on this label has brail on it too. Eat Your Own Ears appears to be their debut and Drawing On Other People's Heads is their sophomore. If you want to dive into the deep end then I'd recommend going straight for DOOPH. Eat Your Own Ears is less weird than this one but jazzier and still good
@dave808au

I should add that i bought their debut from a really odd record store and i also bought a CD from a random french artist that had album artwork of him on a beach naked and wearing nothing but a presumably live crab to cover his genitals. It was a strange album. I can't remember anything else about it. It was very strange and stranger than the Wevie Stonder.

first of all: I love this series. challenging albums generally considered unlistenable is very entertaining. second: Wevie Stonder's Drawing on Other People's Heads sounds like a lot of fun, and I'm going to check them out. based on what I've heard, I hear musical similarities to Funki Porcini-who started in 1995. similar vibe and also really fun. to start, I would recommend The Ultimately Empty Million Pounds (1999), but it's all good. finally: I am in that coveted 5% who get the reference to Peter Serafinowicz' excellent series. is there a secret club that I can join? thank you for these videos

I am new to the channel. I have binge watched your videos, though, and find your reviews fascinating. I love that you can find the artists intent, even within the weirdness or “brownness” of the song itself. I also believe that albums should be taken as a singular statement, rather than a desperate set of pieces. In that vein, I hearby offer “Ma! (He's Making Eyes At Me),” the debut album by Scottish singer Lena Zavaroni. Although the quality of the album is probably better than The Shaggs, the downright creepiness of the concept is really troubling. I found my copy at a Goodwill.

"I want albums that hurt me" I actually know of one specific album that actually, truly, deeply hurts to listen to, like at a visceral level, an album that will make your skin crawl, will make you want to vomit multiple times over type shit, but I'm afraid to recommend it because it is legitimately traumatizing shit and it 100% does not at all fit in to the tone of this show. I'm conflicted though because it shows up in listicles every so often on worst/most controversial/most disturbing albums of all time lists and I really don't want more people to find out about it that way without knowing what they're getting into. I'm not gonna mention it here by name, but trust me, it is the worst shit ever recorded and the world is legitimately a worse place for its creation and I mean that with absolutely no hyperbole whatsoever.

if youre talking about buyers market i dont think anyone should listen to that, i myself have refused to and avoided it to death. if youre curious buyers market apparently contains child abuse recordings, so yeah avvoid that at all costs

if you want something that does make your skin crawl and doesnt contain actually traumatizing and ilegal audio, i would say i guess deathpile - G.R. if anyone want to get into that all you need to know is that it is a concept album in the genre of power electronics that takes the pov of a real life serial killer that murdered multiple women, it is pretty skin crawly and disgusting, and honestly i come to garrets channel for wholesome content and having to cover that album would be a downer. i personally dont like that album and cant stand it all, i feels exploitative and perverse for something less shocking and awful id say really, listen to whitehouse - bird seed, just with the warning it is edgy as hell and again, power electronics so its basically a british man insulting you over industrial noise. i feel like that'd make a good episode but still idk, whitehouse have their own baggage, and delving into powerelectronics tend to bring out alot of weird and BAD stuff. such as some small p.e. bands have a nazi problem, p.e. is famous for housing extreme music from many political spectrums but it seems the most vocal p.e. artists are actual white supremacists, i dont know if whitehouse is, and from my own research it seems they are openly agaisnt that but still here lies the warning. also to reiterate DO NOT listen to the album mentioned by op, it is from what i heard a horrible mistake, and apparently the guy who made it himself was found to be a pedophile, main reason why i had to shime in is because there will be commenters curious and they might seek it out find it and listen to it, just dont, from what i hear dits just power electronics (i.e. distorted industrial noise) with gathered audio of child abuse and interviews with child abuse victims, its exploitative and gross and by listening to it youre supporting a pedophile. sorry for the long comment
@Glassandcandy
@Glassandcandy Жыл бұрын
@@Yamari1you’re confusing Buyers Market with a similar project called Scorpion which is likely just an urban legend. Buyers Market is just collages of audio interviews of children who were abused recounting their abuse, often in grotesque detail, but it doesn’t contain actual audio from actual abuse footage. There is an album like that that is mentioned in similar conversations allegedly called scorpion, but it’s existence has never been verified and most people believe it to be an internet urban legend or hoax similar to things like Red Rooms (and hopefully it is just that, a made up fake story, because if it is real then that’s just actually evil.) Also yes I am talking about Buyers Market, but I was hesitant to mention it by name just for someone to look it up in morbid curiosity and get actually traumatized listening to it because it is genuinely one of the most painful and disturbing things ever put to tape- also it gets way worse when you read up on the guy who put it together. I think 99% of people should just steer clear of it at all costs.

Guido in the uk has very different associations - nothing to do with Italian people at all. I only learned the US meaning a few years ago. It's an old name - Guy Fawkes actual name. He's the only person I can think of it might refer to. I'd imagine that had more to do with the name. Might be totally wrong of course, but the album doesn't really have any north american associations in general. It also means guide, or leader apparently. Bless you for being so sensitive. Thanks for this review. One of my faves this is.

This was one of my favorite albums to listen to in this series! My thoughts on each track? Und: I feel like all I was missing while listening to this was a beret, and a black turtleneck. I love how the song ends by literally telling itself to shut up. Cowboyz: For some reason I thought during my initial listen of this track that this song could be used for Teletubbies background music.I still think that was work fatigue talking. Supertaps: Sounds like an introduction to Vaporwave. I'm all for it! Kenkeneb: Possibly my favorite track off the album! Definitely has a Blues Clues vibe to it. If I could describe the song in one word it would be "MURDAH" Shredni Vashtar: I don't do very much research before listening to each album, so the initial idea was lost on me at the time. I can definitely further appreciate it now, but in the realm of first impressions this track was underwhelming compared to what I heard thus far. Gamilnutbike: Same as Shredni Vashtar, though a little less remarkable since it's missing the theatrical strings of the previous track. Quest of the Sacred Baboon: Apple Music has the same typo as Spotify. I feel lied to. That is all. St. Michael's Mount: This sounds like the beta version of that song in Mario Paint that plays when you're saving your picture. Mike Mulligan: Well now I know why this vocal performance sounded like a childrens audio book. That being said this is one of the more charming songs off of the album. It's almost soothing listening to this faux bass voice talk about the story of "Me, Mike Mulligan, Mary Ann, and some others". WORDIDIDN'TKNOWWASASLUR's Alphabet Garden: This was the song I listened to to prepare myself for this album. (I was still burning through the last of the albums in this series before getting to this one) This track made me think this entire record was going to be a high brow, French, avant garde art project. Thank god I was wrong! Chubb Rock: If Nine Inch Nails ever collabed with Ween while on acid. Hunter (Apple music calls this track Junter): Again, had no clue what to make of this contextually. I just assumed I was on a hunting trip with a proud, self proclaimed hunter. I actually enjoyed this one strangely enough. The History of Dogs: This was a fun closer! Feels like a National Geographic documentary you would find on April Fool's Day. On a slightly unrelated note: I'M FINALLY DONE! THE MARATHON IS COMPLETE!!!! I don't have to listen to another terrible album until the next one is announced! ...and I'll be honest. It feels weird not having something at the ready to listen to on the way home. I'm sure I'll think of something.

Im not sure if you take suggestions or not but i would like to see a review of the album Hardcore Devo Vol. 2 as it was a horrible experience sitting through, i truly believe its one of the worst albums, it did have 1 really good track called Fountain Of Filth, but the rest of the album was either mediocre or irredeemable ear grating trash, as a Devo fan it was a huge disappointment

Just found this channel, great work! I never checked for Wevie Stonder, though I was aware as I was always a fan of other Skam artists, It sounds a bit like Funki Porcini in places which is no bad thing. Skam releases all have brail on the spines btw. Also, not sure if you take unsolicited requests that are non patreon, but honestly the worst album I ever heard was Manor Boys - Chelmsfords most wanted, less chap rap more chav rap. It's bloody awful mate.

if you want something that will hurt you should definitely listen to pure misanthropia by Stalaggh. It's essentially 40 minutes of dark ambient screaming
