There's no way anyone who truly and deeply cares about their sibling could find a bright side or try to. Each time Mykelti says she cries, she sniffs as though she knows she shoudl be crying, but can't. She knows she should care, but she has been so twisted by Kody and Robyn's bs, she can't.

She seems immune from the impact of what you described. She does'nt seem to feel she lost anything. She is moving on already. Garrison kept trying to be heard, but he was unable to get through. His feelings were ignored and not heard. So he sacrificed his life to get that message through loud and clear. It is totally disrespectful for Mykelti to try to turn things to the positive so waterdown Garrison's final message and to distract from understanding his feelings and dismiss his message once again. @@IndigoBellyDance

“Silver lining” probably would have been a more accurate way to put it. I know what she means. I’m the same way. I need to find something positive or humorous even in life’s darkest moments. “Bright side” implies that something is more or less equally good and bad, and I don’t think that’s how she intended to describe this situation. She was speaking more generally about her own personality.

It's not really for you to decide what is genuine and what isn't. I am autistic and people find my reactions to various things as being inappropriate. If I try to react correctly, it comes off as disingenuous. That's what i am getting from this. At the end of the day, only she gets to decide what the appropriate expression of her grief she gives. Its so weird to get angry with someone for reacting to a hugely traumatic event.
@grogweedwalker
@grogweedwalker 7 ай бұрын
By that same token, it is not up to you to decide how I feel or see things. So please don't police me. You cannot take my right to discern and draw my own conclusions for myself. This is a public video in a family that has invited the public in. So I have a right to decide for myself without getting your or anyone's approval about how I see things. I am not the only one who is getting huge vibes that Mykelti appears immune and she is also tainting the victims final message by trying to twist it to the positive. I honestly believe her being a flying monkey to Robyn and Kody in trying to get her own needs for approval met has messed her up. Its important to state thos things. There is much to be learned in this. @@silversmoke6

Not sure what happened to my other reply, but it is not up to you to decide what I see, sense, and feel either. Or you to police my grief reactions to this tragic situation. Everyone has a right to speak truth about what they see. They don't have to get permission. This family made themselve public. Mykelti posted a public video. We can comment on that without someone else telling us our feelings or thought are wrong. That is whay Garrison sound as if he was trying to do. Garrison paid the ultimate price for a final message because of the refusal to hear him and value him to enter his feelings. It's wrong to twist things to the positive and waterdown his final message. This is an opportunity to hear him. No one -- even his sister should waterdown his final message. He should be heard, finally. @@silversmoke6

The "bright side" is that Garrison is hopefully no longer hurting and " *I* got to see my family together for the first time in years." There is never a "bright side" to someone being in so much pain that they chose to end it permanently. Garrison's death came after many *YEARS* of suffering, *YEARS* of crying out and being ignored, until it was no longer tolerable. Even if Garrison's death brought about change in the family - that would not be a "bright side" - he is gone, the good he would have done in this world, the lives he would have changed, will never happen. Mykelti getting to see *her* family together is *not* a "bright side", and any member of the family that didn't know Garrison well enough to realize that he was in imminent danger, and did nothing to help, has no right to speak about what *he* would be "happy" about. This is someone who doesn't want the obvious pain and death of her sibling to impact her life in any way. Perhaps instead of Garrison being thrilled by everyone getting back to normal immediately, he would have preferred if everyone took some time to reflect on why this happened. He might have liked if the family checked in on everyone and made certain that they are alright, and made some changes to the way that they interact... of course that would require involvement and effort - the very things that could have prevented this tragedy in the first place. If they don't reflect on why this happened and *get therapy* , they are destined to repeat it. Anything they do to "honour" Garrison (a bit hollow, it isn't as though they wouldn't have had a reunion without this tragedy) is too little, too late. This could have been prevented. Don't ignore it - it will happen again.💙

The attitude is that the person who ends their life is not hurting anymore because the pain they were dealing with are gone. For me it came down to this,I have seven nephews, I have a dad,I have siblings and I have two dogs who need me. I can struggle but I can't run from the struggle. There is no brightside,I agree with that.,but I get the logic even if it's really crappy.

My boyfriend passed away suddenly almost 2 years ago. I'm also a "bright side" kind of person. I'm still grieving, but there are positives. The biggest one is he is no longer suffering. Please remember everyone grieves differently. I work in the death industry. I've seen many types of grief. Even in my widows grief support group, there were many grieving styles. I wish the best for the Brown family as they begin their new journey without Garrison.

So you’d rather her get on here and degrade certain family members for their actions and tear apart her family and cause even more separation instead? Can’t stand such judgmental ppl that this doesn’t affect to talk negatively of those who it actually affects the most. I’ve lost a family member too soon and watched it completely destroy our family to where 7 years later and no one hardly ever speaks to anyone let alone ever see each other. Knowing my family memeber this IS NOT what they would have wanted but it’s so far gone now doesn’t seem like there’s any coming back on all sides. Leave these people alone to try and go thru their grieving process how they need to and hell it’s not even been long enough yet for her to be out of the shocked/disbelief stage yet and ppl like you already have something to say about what she’s saying. Go sit down and disect your entire life and family and pick apart every single mistake you’ve ever possibly made, every single thing that’s ever came out of your mouth, every single action you’ve ever done and sit with it and judge it all instead of feeling better by judging someone else’s life while they’re going thru a current tragedy. Some of y’all love the distraction judging other ppls lives helping you to ignore your own and it shows.

Mykelti was raised in a culture where she was taught to keep sweet,pray and obey. I get what you're saying. My mom died in April and I had relatives who did this at her viewing. One cousin refused to leave after the funeral director asked her to. My brother took care of that but my take on this is,and I don't care if people disagree,that it's sad that Mykelti is saying that she has to keep going because Garrison would want her to when we all know she started this because she wants to make money and basically now she's profiting off oer exploiting her family and seemingly will be going back to normal as if nothing happened. She sided with Kody and Robyn and she needs money. I guess if she truely cared about her family and didn't want to answer questions about her family and what happened she should consider ending all this,going to get a real job,or at least Tony could and stop exploiting her family for profit!

Mykelti seems to have a nasty case of "toxic positivity" which Wikipedia describes as, "pressure to stay upbeat no matter how dire one's circumstance is, which may prevent emotional coping by feeling otherwise natural emotions." It's not surprising that she wants things to go back to 'normal'. Despite being Garrison's half-sister, she doesn't know what he would want unless they talked about it. Garrison's texts before he passed showed he was angry with TLC and with Kody. She's young ... she lacks maturity and is grieving, and being a part of a public family, her missteps are magnified. I agree with you Katie.

I hate to say anything negative because I absolutely love Christine and this is her daughter but throughout the show I have always thought that she is an idiot. She rambles on it makes no sense. I remember when she was speaking to Kody and Robyn and said you’re the last one to know in the room and it was so clear that she had no clue what she was talking about. She is full of fluff and trying to make money off of her families fame. It’s pathetic and it’s just disgusting to watch

Mykelti is grieving in her own way. She can't fix the past but she can move forward the best she can. Most funerals I've been too end up being more like a family reunion.

Mykelti tries to push her views on to her siblings also I think. Especially on Robyn and how sweet Robyn is and no one really understands her. I can't imagine how hard this had to be for Janelle and Christine and the siblings..sorry I refuse to include Kody and Robyn in this. I can't imagine what Gabe went through..they were so close. They all are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏 ❤️

With all of these tributes triggered by his death, who of them ever told these wonderful things to him in life?

His mother and Gabe did. We can not be in his mind when he made the decision to end his life. We can only hope the whole family gets the help they are going to need.

Having been through the suicide of a close family member, I won't judge anyone who holds on to any shred of light they can during such a dark and confusing time. And I am glad the whole family could be together. They need each other right now.

There are some really great and loving comments here. I’m always heartened by how compassionate people are when seeing pain in people they’ve never met. I hang on those comments when things are hard and the world seems crazy. So grateful

I was raised LDS and was taught that if you commit suicide you go to hell...when my husband's brother died by his own hands the family said at a family gathering that their brother is in hell. My husband and I walked out and I am no longer in a religion that preaches and teaches that philosophy. Mykelti may be struggling with that concept in my opinion 😢

I was too and never ever heard that! We can’t judge, only Jesus Christ can, we don’t know what was in Garrisons mind. God is a loving God!

@patclark2398 no it is not. It is falsely taught in some. There are different Catholics globally.

They were all there. When my husband passed and then my daughter passed we could feel their presence. I believe what she says. He wasn’t selfish and wouldn’t expect them all to just stop their lives.

It is hard to judge any of the family member's words or actions right now. They are still very much in their grief. I can see how Mykelti is running back to work, that seems in keeping with her personality. She is most likely trying to keep herself busy while she works through how she feels. We don't get to say how they grieve or whether it makes sense to us, this family is literally in survival mode right now. I'm sure they will get to the point of raising awareness and supporting others but give them time to support themselves and feel what they are feeling.

Mykelti is insufferable. She is an equal mix of Robyn and Kody while always needing to be the center of attention. She is loud like Christine, so at least she has something in common with her mother. This whole thing just sounds disingenuous.
