My first concert ever at 9 years old was Garth Brooks. I remember getting the tickets in a birthday card from my mom . He opened up the concert, with a white baby grand piano coming out from under the stage. Im 36 now and I still love Garth Brooks. I know all of the songs

Pretty neat. I didn't know he played the saxophone. Any person who can play multiple instruments is a true genius and is an awesome musician been listening to him since high school in the 90's Wishing to relive those days. The 90's had a big decade for music through all the genres in the 90's.

He pretty much learned it for THIS concert, he played it a few times beforehand on other un-filmed concerts to get it down to a T before this broadcast^
I never had the chance to see Garth Brooks in concert he is my most favorite country music artist. I have seen George Stright,Reba,Brooks and Dunn,Tracy Lawrence, Wade Hayes,David Ball,Cheryl Wright,The Mavericks,Lorrie Morgan,Keith Whitly,Eddie Raven but never Garth

I don't know if anyone else realized this, but I bet the movie Pure Country the previous year was in response to the arena country genre that Garth just about single handedly pioneered. How Dusty (George Strait) had been growing increasingly bothered by how the showmanship had been becoming more and more important than the music itself. That being said, especially at the time 13 year old me saw this, that was beyond awesome when Garth was flying!!
@brandonthomas5999Ай бұрын
It amazes me how people seriously think he ruined country music!
@Robmancan198719 күн бұрын
I don't think Garth ruined it. It was the generation after him that ruined it. And it was really the record executives pushing looks and flash over sound and story telling. Basically what can we sell sell sell to the youth. Garth was original. Now it's about copying what sells instead of being original. Not the artist fault at all really.
@Stephen_KB18 күн бұрын
The generation before him were just jealous that Garth blew pass them so quickly and was selling out stadiums and making so much money, so they just called him “too poppy” or a “sellout” and because he was singing about more than just drowning his sorrows in whiskey. And now the generation after him have ruined it because guys like Luke Bryan have created “bro country” where every song sounds the same and they have to sing about tailgates, tan lines, and cold beer and it’s total crap.
@robhollywood6479 күн бұрын
@@Stephen_KB To be fair, Kenny Rogers was getting an even harder time than Garth Brooks was in the 12-13 years prior to Brooks putting his first record out. Like Brooks, Rogers was once the biggest selling recording star in the world for a number of years, of any genre, yet never won the CMA "Entertainer Of The Year." Brooks first major tour was as his support act in 1989. A further insult to his success was several acts who broke big after him, Brooks included, were put into the country music hall of fame before he was, and he's still not in the rock n roll hall of fame, despite easily meeting all the criteria, as does Brooks.
@turdmanjones59Күн бұрын
For real, his predecessors often spoke down on him in quiet - "these new guys playing flashy shows, making pop songs and not caring about the music" - like he 100% cared about the music if they went past his crazy shows and singles - he made songs for everything and everybody, his songs told stories all the time - most were past experiences, some were just made off of feelings or for jokes or he helped people tell their stories... For example; Wolves, Same Old Story, Face to Face, Which One of Them, One Night A Day, Every Time It Rains, Alabama Clay, I Know One, The Night I Called The Old Man Out, Every Now and Then, Learning to Live Again, That Summer... Like *most* of these are album cuts, not singles, and they tell alot - the feeling, the scenery, YOU feel like you're there, or you're the one re-telling the story to yourself, and you feel everything as if it happened to you or you're re-living it.. Like at least just admit you were too envious or jealous to even give him a listen and just made assumptions about the man, and regarding his live shows and concerts... Brooks grew up on mostly ROCK music on his upbringing, so ofc he was gonna go all out, just go crazy and give it 1,000% for who ever bought tickets to see him

He’s also been releasing his entire career story in volumes, The Anthology - First Five Years, The Next Five Years, LIVE, and Going Home. Has another 2 or 3 parts to go. And released a box set celebrating the residency called 777 Jackpot that included some stuff never before released, new cover songs, and some stuff from the specials never before released in album/audio version. We didn’t know they were doing by lottery draw. They came by with the bag of tickets. My two friends got numbers it the hundreds. I PICKED NUMBER SIX! I was able to get the six ticket maximum and after about the 25th person, all the locations sold out. Then of course they added more shows. Sorry for the long story.
