Episode 06 : Series finale. Dr. Sanchez's life is in danger from a patient with an extraterrestrial broccoli infection. Dagless must save both his friend, and the world. Guest starring Julian Barratt.
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a British dark comedy show made for Channel 4 by Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade. Darkplace is presented as a lost classic: a television series produced in the 1980s, though never broadcast at the time. The show parodies numerous aspects of '80s low-budget television, including fashion, special effects, production gaffs, and music.
No copyright infringement intended. All copyright remains under Channel 4. I do not own this show at all. This is the wonderful work of writers and creators Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade.

When I watched his episode for the first time, I had a sort of weird revelation. As crappy as it was intended to be, I actually really cared about the show inside the show. Like, I actually wanted to see more of it, because I liked the characters and the plot intrigued me. It was still funny as a parody, but it started to become really endearing.

The music throughout this series is just incredible, no matter how many times I watch it, it always sticks out as fantastic. That fucking epic intro theme, One Track Lover, the face-off in the Scotch mist, Dag's awesome sax solo on the hospital roof, and just all of the bgm and musical cues in general... it's a great show already but damn, Andrew Hewitt did a fucking glorious job with the music. There's so much to enjoy in the show that the score gets overlooked too often in my opinion.

This is a 5 year old comment at this point but I NEED to illustrate just how genius Darkplace is. You get the self-absorbed comment about not being thanked in the beginning. Then, towards the end of the episode, Sanchez DOES thank Dagless for the lift after thanking him for saving his life. So Marenghi did write in the thanks he felt he deserved, while saying "don't mention it", as if he is so considerate that he needs no thanks. AND THEN, in the epilogue, Dagless says he'll have to look after everyone "not that I would get any thanks" like he is annoyed at the lack of appreciation. Marenghi isn't just written as a narcisist. Even his narcissism is written with comedic iteration.
