There is NO hell concept in Hinduism. Yama is just the guardian of the lower 6 astral layers where your soul ( you ) are parked before you await re-induction-like in a soccer team. Though my mother done some bad works for me I forgave her and I felt someone very close to me I lost forever. You try this but talking me is not possible in dreams only others say your father will talk to you. 4 months after my mother died she showed her closeness and helped me guid me in right way in dreams even I today saw a dream with her a beautiful dream. In my case I lost someone very close to me who were supposed to take care of me she wanted to live but it's all over

Long story short. According to hinduism after death yamdoots (demonic angels who come to take the soul) come and take our soul for 24 hours in heaven and our whole life karma is calculated. Then soul is sent down again to spend 13 days at home. After that yamdoots come again to take the soul and the soul is treated with very cruelty because all the wrong deeds he had done in his life. These cruelty will reduce if a man does good work. more the good work we do more our bad karma will get balanced.
