Garuda Indonesia A330-300 Business Class Trip Report

I did prefer Garuda cabin staff over SQ, they are so friendly, gracious and attentive, they always came across as genuine whereas SQ can be rather automatic. Their current hard product may not match the industry leaders, they did once I think but I always found their cabins very clean and comfortable. Catering was always a highlight, never disappointed. Shame they don't fly to the UK any more...a rather start/stop history. Excellent report.

I agree with you , SQ cabin crew is rather automatic just doing their crew sop , while GA is very much sincere

you coud tell if their flight attendants was a 5 star skytrax... I really think they are really good at their job, It's kinds more of manual instead of Automatic.

Very nice flight report with Garuda. Yes I flew with Garuda already. But this was in the late 90ies from Frankfurt to Bangkok. It was a great flight but they don't serve this route no more. Thank you for your awesome flight reports. I really love it.

I completely agree. Garuda remind me of mini Singapore Airlines when it comes down to their service. Garuda have the best offering from Melbourne. Generally only served by narrow bodies. It's such a nice flight to Bali on a bigger A330 than a 737 or 320-21

We are going to go to Tokyo in October and I am still tossing around who to fly with. Have narrowed it down to Garuda, Vietnam Airlines or Fiji Airways because the business class is so much cheaper than flying direct with JAL (who I love) or ANA, no problem doing a connecting flight. We used to go to Bali every year before we had kids and always flew Garuda. You used to be able to pay $300 to upgrade to business and $500 to 1st class and it was 747 back then. For our 1st anniversary we paid the $500 to upgrade to 1st and just wow. No lie flat seats back then but you sat upstairs outside the cockpit and the food and service was amazing even back then. Seriously leaning towards Garuda for October though.

Great review, flown them a number of times between MEL and DPS/CGK. Service is always a standout, even on par with airlines like SQ. Points bookings via Flying Club and Flying Blue provide amazing value and there is always plenty of availability. The best way to start/end a holiday in Bali!

@@thedesignairvideo very similar. I agree with your comments regarding the high level of service and the limited IFE. I would also say that the versions of the Collins seat used by other airlines (such as Qatar on the A380) have more storage nooks, although the A330 constraints may preclude this. Generally, I think Garuda is a much improved airline. It's at a very similar level and feel to Air Vietnam.

Garuda need to invest in some A350's, get rid of First Class because it's not competitive and is just for "status" as rich Indonesians are mostly snobs. Stick with Business class, introduce Premium Economy.

Flew Garuda business from Jkt to Doha. The service was great, the inflight entertainment was really bad though. Selection of movies and music just disappointing, old and too little choice
