These are selling brand new for $1700 now, because they are odd ball, 8 string tremelo is like a unicorn, i snagged one, i like it better than my other guitars, sad that dean got all messed up, would have been cool to see more variations

Yep, Dean stopped making them but they did just put out a new V. They aren’t gone yet so maybe they’ll come back. As for the 8 string multi scale trem you can buy as many as you want from Kahler right now. You could even get 9 or 10 string regular or multi scale if you want.

They all do, from 6 to 10 string. Also, each string slot has a different hight, width, and radius to accommodate the different gauges of the strings.

Gary Kahler is so awesome that you can get a 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and even 10 string guitar bridge from Kahler International. Flat mount or stud mount, regular or multi scale! And that’s not including bass!

I'm a metalhead but 7, 8, 9 string multi scaled guitars are definitely not my thing. The Kahler trem is a very impressive piece of engineering, though!

They make them for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 string guitars in regular or multi scale. Also stud mount or flat mount in bright chrome, black krome, or gold. You know, should you ever need one. Oh, one more thing… you can also easily lock it to make it fixed. Crap, one other thing, you can change the rollers from brass to steel or Teflon glass also.

@@stevenpipes1555 the first multi I ever tried was a Dingwall. I was worried that it would be difficult to play but it wasn’t. That wasn’t the case with the first time I played an instrument with an extra string. Once again a bass, 5 strings and my hands were confused for about a week! I think this might be why that first Ibanez 7 string failed so badly. At any rate I encourage you to definitely check out multi scales because they are really great! Extra strings are fantastic as well, but you might need to give yourself time to adjust. Almost every I know has it down in a week.

The Kahler trem is impressive, but maybe you didnt know, multiscale guitars can be made which use standard, straight bridge hardware. This involves calculating the fret fan so that the parallel fret is positioned at a hypothetical position like 1000 or something. The fan itself ends up more pronounsed in the lower positions of the fretboard.

@@TempleGuitars It can be extreme or subtle. For instance, if the scale length difference between the lowest and highest string is half an inch, then it's barely noticeable. If you look at pictures of some Strandberg guitars with fanned fretboards you'll see what I mean. Even larger scale length differences in this calculations don't make the guitar "wrist breaking", it's simply that the fret fan doesn't resolve on the fretboard. A guitar that taxes the wrist has more to do with an extreme scale length, or a player who has smaller hands.

@@peachmelba1000 I own a Strandberg and the bridge is every bit as fanned as the neck. Can you show me an example of a standard bridge being used for a multi scale guitar… that actually intonates? Until I see it I have a hard time believing it.

@@REXYLAB I apologize, I got my guitar brands mixed up. It's Ormsby guitars. Unfortunately if I post a link in a comment it'll get auto deleted, but look up Ormsby Genesis multiscale to see what I'm talking about. Also, I've built a guitar in this fashion and it's intonates perfectly well.

@@peachmelba1000 it didn’t take long to see how it works with the Ormsby and you are correct. However, this would not work with the Dean exile line. If you look closely the Ormsby is designed to have the most extreme part of the fan close to the nut. It’s a little fanned at the 24th fret but not much. With the Dean it’s kind of a “half fan” with a straight locking nut and the fan getting less aggressive closer to the nut and more so as it travels towards the bridge. Almost exactly opposite of the Ormsby. If you look at a guitar like the Ibanez RGMS8 they fan it differently yet again and it definitely would not work with a standard, straight bridge. Also, after looking at the Ormsby line it appears they have abandoned that method of building their fanned fret guitars for a bridge that slants like the Kahler. I must say though, I said I would believe it when I saw it and you delivered. As someone that has a guitar channel I hear people make claims they can’t back up and then they just rant nonsense and disappear. The fact you were able to show me what you are talking about is something I appreciate.
