Gary, KZbin was playing episodes of “The Lieutenant” the past months. Now KZbin has taken down the episodes. Only a few short clips remain. You did great acting in those shows. The script writing was sophisticated. Of course, your Star Trek 2nd pilot was also wonderful. Yes, 2001 was good. I hope I see some of your 1950s western works. I like it when you talk about staying away from women who like horses - too expensive. You downsized on your workshop space and had to downsize on your wives too. I agree about the street people requesting assistance. Japanese woodworking - good for you, a contemplative hobby. I also need to reduce some weight. I swim everyday and try to be more careful about what I eat.

I did the same thing: I recently started watching the Lieutenant and hadn't seen Lockwood in years but wasn't all that surprised how he looked because you see it all the time. Have always wondered why Gene Roddenberry didn’t find a way to fit GL into the Star Trek franchise in some further capacity or character. GL was one of the first ST characters and had earlier exposure by Roddenberry on the big screen. Has always seemed as a missed opportunity for both GL and GR.

@@ilovebeinagirl I agree! I’m not throwing stones at him for being old… It’s going to happen to all of us (if we’re lucky). I was just saying it’s shocking to see the change in someone after 60 or 65 years, all in one jump. But the people we live with and see every day, or at least every year, the change is gradual. I loved his work in that series, and I loved his straight talk in this interview.

Take a look at an 80 year old today compared to one 40 years ago and before. He actually looks pretty good. Half the population dies before that age in America today. And I like his grumpy, no-nonsense, unfiltered old man! Today he’d make many young men run crying to their mama!

She seems to be desperate to engage with him which he doesn't seem to do, he doesn't even look her in the eyes but also the person in the background constantly keeps interrupting the interview and breaks any momentum that the interviewer was trying to build. Gary seems uninterested like he has a million things he'd rather do. They just didn't seem to click. Not a very good interview all the way around in my opinion, not very well executed or professional.

I disagree. As we age, we get irritable. Being obese makes it hard to smile. The interviewer was polite and trying to be encouraging to draw Gary out. She probably interviewed many celebrities that day. I wish she would have asked Gary about the second Star Trek pilot in which Gary put on a superb performance, good dialogue.
