Saw Gary when he was plucked from obscurity to join Thin Lizzy as 2nd guitarist. (He quickly became an equal) Checkout what Imho is easily his best live performance. The Fender Guitar Anniversary Concert featured many of the best known artists a few yrs back. Gary’s homage to Jimmi Hendrix covering his Classic “Red House” is a locked down must. It’s on KZbin and a Top Shelf performance I would love to see you both react too. Other than SRV, the one guitarist who nailed down Jimmi perfectly is the group “Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.” Frank’s own live version of Jimmi’s version of the Bob Dylan’s classic, “All Along The Watchtower” (that was a mouthful,😂) is on KZbin and a must see as well. All three players captured the Hendrix “lighting in a bottle”better than anyone before or since. Apologies for the lengthy comment, but I love recommending music I know others will find special as well. Enjoy the channel. Regards.

He wasnt plucked from obscurity he was in a fairly well known Irish band - Skid row and musicians including Peter Green noticed him, he went with Lizzy because of his friendship with Phil. At no point in his career was he ever a 2nd guitarist, Scott Gorham said the proudest thing about his career was that he could just about keep up with him. Funny story about him playing with Albert, Albert asked Gary what key he'd prefer to play in and Gary said anything but b flat and Albert decided to play in that key to test him. Safe to say he passed the test

Albert King plays his guitar upside down similar to Hendrix but Albert King left the strings as they normally are and Hendrix restrung his guitar so it was pretty much like playing a regular left handed guitar. Eric Gales plays his guitar like Albert King. Albert King was a huge influence to Stevie Ray Vaughan and you can hear some of Albert Kings licks in SRV's playing. If you like Gary Moore you need to check him out doing a tribute to Hendrix as he covers the song Red House live at the Celebrating 50 Years of Fender concert. 🎸🔥

I love to watch Albert King perform, he's just so skillfully sending out instructions to the band with his body language, and he's so smooth with it...just an incredible band leader. And as you begin to watch him with other artists, you can see they all watch his every move. They would study Alberts facial expressions and body language as he performed. but I guess he's known more for his string bending style of guitar playing, and that melodiously soulful voice...just a wonderful performer. He was a major influence on Jimi Hendrix who once said, "Albert is one of the most important bluesmen that ever lived." Here's another live performance "Albert King & Stevie Ray Vaughan - Don't You Lie To Me" I love to watch these two perform together, I just think their playing compliments each other so well. (IMhO) No disrespect intended to Gary Moore who is also a phenomenal player. Sorry fellas got in a bit of a funk, after having lost so many great artists at once. But I'm back hope everyone's well and doing okay. 🙏

Guitarists were overdriving their 30 Watt amps to compete with the new phenomenon of screaming crowds. The Beatles lost the battle as we know and retired to the studio. Jim Marshall, a jazz drum tutor who birthed a surprising number of British Rock drummers, set his mind to solving the problem. And he did, but by then, many guitarists had grown to love the sustain, power, of the overdriven amp and demanded that too. In these two guitar wizards we see the step change technology can make to music and musicians. That's my take at least. I've genuinely never heard this song before. What a treat. Thank you.

The guitar that Gary Moore is playing is famous in its own right.... It's called "Greeny-Moore". A 1959 Les Paul originally owned by Peter Green of the original Fleetwood Mac. It's the guitar that "Black Magic Woman", "Oh Well" and "Green Manalishi" was written on. He sold it to Gary Moore, who played it until he passed a few years ago. It's now owned by Kirk Hammett of Metallica.

What great guitarists on one stage, that's real art that stays forever - that's a fact ! Gary Moore got this Gibson guitar from one of the best english blues songwrighters ever named "Peter Green" one of the founder of the early band named "Fleetwood Mac" before they became a simple pop group. The neck pickup was accidentally inserted the wrong way around and connected out of phase, and that's what made their special sound. R.I.P Gary Moore and Peter Green and of course Albert King ! If I could get more thumbs up I would give at least 10. They`re all now in blues heaven and play together some more wonderful blues songs - I know it ! Best regards @all from hamburg (germany)
