I remember.. When I was ( maybe ) 5-6 years old my father listened Gary Moore's songs. I love his songs and Im victim of these songs 12 years ago.. When I was 14 years old I got my first acoustic guitar for christmas and I started to learn guitaring. In the nowadays I continued my studies with electric guitar but Gary Moore teach me lots of things, but one of these is the most important to me.. You can't just "learn" to play on a guitar.. You need to bring your soul with the music, and you need to live in that song what you play.. Thanks for Gary Moore! Im so proud, because you're my idol! #greetingsfromhungary

This is what a guitar solo should be. Each change cascades seamlessly into the next. Just when you think the solo has peaked he takes it to another level. Truly great solos like this build to a crescendo that gives you goose bumps and blows your mind. It's not about speed and technical difficulty, it's all about feel and emotion, and nobody did it better than Gary Moore in this solo.

The first time I visited my beloved grandfathers grave alone, my iPod decided (I'm fairly sure that thing was sentient) to play this song. I just stood there, at around 1:48 Gary's words got to me. I held myself until that damned guitar started up on it's own, like it was prodding me to cry. That first solo devasted me. Completely. It ripped out my soul and shook it. The song went on.. I sank to my knees and cried like I've never before or since cried. Gary's voice both soothed me and made it worse. The guitar was there with me, all along. Like an Angel, or Devil, who knows. Crying along with me, tormenting me, pushing me deeper into my own sorrow, making the depths and peaks of my sorrow and anguish even more pronounced, the swells of the melody of the solo bringing up pictures of myself and my grandfather when I was a child, going from intense happiness to profound sadness. I can't explain it properly, but the guitar took on a voice of its own, like it was it's own entity, knowing my feelings better than myself. I cried, I gasped, I was barely able to breathe. There was only tears, sorrow and that god damned guitar. Mocking me. Soothing me. Toying with me. Caressing me. Absolving me of my childhood shenanigans and playful pranks against my grandfather, being his voice from beyond the grave. Both stern and playful, friendly yet truthful. Honest. Loving. Ever truthful. I can't even describe it, it felt supernatural, and it felt like like an eternity. I could swear I'd been crying for hours, and I was completely physically exhausted at the end, but it only lasted for the length of the solo. It took well over twenty years before I was able to listen to this song again, even as I write this as I'm listening to this solo my eyes are tearing up. It's just. That. Powerful. Fuck, I'm crying again. R.I.P Gary Moore, thank you for sharing your precious gift with us mere mortals.

I played the guitar and both of us sang the song and there were blue lights everywhere.
