This is what football is all about but when you hear fans singing derogatory things about disasters and racism do they think about the players who play for their teams and have to listen to their shite and after the match having to apologise for the comments and crap 💩 coming from them no, Gary and Jamie were people who loved their team but they didn’t hate each other they respected each other so much. So it doesn’t matter what club you support it’s all about good banter if you win or lose it doesn’t matter

If you allow the bitter football rivalry to subside and you get to the bottom of the real personalities then this is what you get. Two people who actually get on really well. Throw in Roy Keane and it all works as it should. If this had transferred to the England golden generation then guaranteed they would have won at least one major trophy. What a waste, all because of childish rivalries.

@@manchesterfellow5282 I'm a Liverpool fan but not a Scouser so I can't speak for them. In terms of the football fanbase then you are probably right. Passionate rivalry and pure hatred are not the same thing. Carragher and Neville got past the hatred and although they are still football fan rivals, it doesn't stop them from getting on. A mature attitude we as fans should try to emulate. And before the Mancs get on my back for the spitting incident, I'm just talking about just two former players who got past their dislike of one another to become good colleagues if not friends. Maybe because both Carragher and Neville have strong working class backgrounds which has helped thaw their relationship by sharing some common ground. Perhaps Mancs and Scousers share that common link as well.

I'm a scouser who's married to a manc and if she didn't have an appalling choice of football team and have an accent like a scouser who's having a stroke, then you couldn't tell us apart. Personality wise obviously. Funny story about Blarney Castle when we (me and my Dad), went in August 2016 my dad was sitting in the alcove by the bottom of the stairs after kissing the stone (I was still up there) and my dad had his cap in his hand with the open side upwards and some guy came along and said "cheers for that" and flicked 2 euros in his hat!

Despite being LFC fan I have always had huge respect for Neville for speaking his mind on various things....that is until recently when he refused point blank to have Mark Goldbridge on the Overlap despite asking fans who they want on the show and literally hundereds replying Goldbridge. Just makes me think he can't handle an honest and these stars of the screen are having their image protected in cotton wall like Phil Schofield. It's supposed to be a fan show. Disappointing
