So i just gotta say, im 21 and never heard of Gary Numan until my late teens but i only new him from Cars back in the 80's... but then KZbin saw that i watched Cars music video and was like "here is another song" it was My Name is Ruin .... my first thought, HOLY SHIT, he's done an amazing job keeping up with the times! This modern Gary Numan is now a favorite of my playlists

Mr. Numan is THE true godfather & o.g. of this style of dark, deep, synth. Hands down, no question about it! His new stuff is simply amazing and just keeps getting better with age. Thank you Gary for not disappearing into obscurity. If you’re recently discovering his music, do yourself a favor and search out his back catalog...As a solo artist and with Tubeway Army. Industrial music, 80’s & modern synth owe a lot to this man. Just ask Trent Reznor...

If it's any consolation, you can connect to Gary's music on a deeper level than some people, and therefore gain a greater appreciation. IMO this is the most long lasting connection between a song and its audience. Most of the music that stays with us our whole lives has this emotional connection. Same with memories, those with strong emotional connections are remembered longer and more vividly. I like your sense of humor, and I'm with you on the "all things fluffy(and feathered)". Have a good week. Peace. P.S. I was a fellow teenager in the 80's too. Loved The Pleasure Principle(on vinyl).

This guy. Somehow he's summed up the experience of aging and failing, waking up to a global state that makes no sense to its citizens and fear for our children's future in the course of one song. While I like his body of work something changed on this album. This is light years above what he's done prior. He's suddenly an amalgamation of Robert Frost and Rachel Carson lyrically. This may be the most poetic work of 2017. This entire album is like a reawakening recorded.

Is that a voice calling me softly? Nothing in here is quite how it seems Is that a whispers touch on my fear? Am I awake or lost in old dreams? Everything's so cold The air is so stale There should be nothing here to see Is this a warning? Like in the black book There can be no one else but me I see a darker shade of darkness I hear a shadow hide in the light I feel a suffocating tension Within a terrible desire Everything's so cold The air is so stale There should be nothing here to fear But I am breathing A child's laughter Can any part of this be real? Everything I work for Everything I long for is always just too far Everything I hope for never comes to be Everything I bleed for burns a scar on me Everything I fight for leaves a bitter taste Everything I cry for looks into my face Everything I scream for barely knows my name Everything I'd die for will die just the same In here with me Is this the truth of your forgiveness? Are you the stranger stood at my door? Are you the end of things come calling? Are you the answer that I've wished for? Everything's so cold, the air is so still And there is nothing here but me If I belong here, and this is mercy Then there is no place I'd rather be Everything I worked for Everything I longed for was always just too far Everything I hoped for never came to be Everything I bled for burned a scar on me Everything I fought for left a bitter taste Everything I cried for laughed into my face Everything I screamed for barely knew my name Everything I died for died just the same In here, with me

Thank you for your post! Albeit 2 years ago) I do have to correct the lyrics a tad. the video version is different from the album version. Just for anyone who may try (or have tried) to read along with the video. Is that a voice calling me softly? Nothing in here is quite how it seems Is that a whisperer search or my fear? Am I awake or lost in old dreams? I see a darker shade of darkness I hear a shadow hiding the light I feel a suffocating tension Within a terrible desire Everything's so cold The air is so stale There should be nothing here to fear But I am breathing A child's laughter Can any part of this be real? Everything I work for Everything I long for is always just too far Everything I hope for never comes to me Everything I bleed for Burns a scar on me Everything I fight for leaves a bitter taste Everything I cry for looks into my face Everything I scream for barely knows my name Everything I'd die for will die just the same In here with me Is this the truth of your forgiveness? Are you the strangers dead at my door? Are you the end of this come calling? Are you the answer that I've wished for? Everything's so cold the air is so stale And there is nothing here but me If I belong here and this is mercy Then there is no place I'd rather be Everything I worked for Everything I longed for was always just too far Everything I hoped for never came to me Everything I bled for burned a scar on me Everything I fought for left a bitter taste Everything I cried for looked into my face Everything I screamed for barely knew my name Everything I died for died just the same In here, with me
