Not smoking or doing drugs, practice, training, experience, and never really blowing his voice out by trying to scream and shout in stupid ways. Also, the age has actually given his voice some depth and character, where it was a bit high and nasal on his very early work (something he admits himself). I can say my own voice has gotten better with age, not that it is anything on Numan's level, but I can't claim to be totally innocent of all the previously mentioned sins...

Jesse Maynard... You are talking nonsense! He didn't prey on anyone. Where is the proof? You read some rubbish after he died? You sound about 12. The type to believe anything, you read. How come that nonsense was never said when he was alive? He had groupies in the 70's who followed him around, it was common in those days. Half the bands in the 70's were preying on young girls, if he was, which he definitely was not . You want to be careful about getting your facts right, before spewing garbage. This song is so interesting on so many levels. The chorus is so colossal it evoked a feeling of it being a religious song, almost like a psalm. All great ideas inspired, music, films, philosophy, inventions, revelations all come from the collective unconscious. It is a truth that is revealed to us spontaneously by sight, by listening, and that in time we have to check by ourselves in order to know if such and such a composer can change our minds and our existence. Here, it must be admitted that it is the absolute vacuum in terms of direction and inspiration, but is it surprising?
