I think it’s unfair that when a woman filed for divorce it’s “Yes girl leave him you can do better” but if a man isn’t happy and decides to divorce a woman it’s “How could you do that?” Men should be allowed to leave if they’re unhappy

I can so relate to Gary about being emotionally checked out. I wanted to divorce my children's father after they graduated high school and turned 18, but I became extremely depressed and divorced their father when my oldest was 13 and my daughter was 11. Waiting for the children to get older was a mistake. I should have done it when they were toddlers because the marriage had already expired. Children tend to take side of the one who didn't file. What children don't understand is that they will never know their mother or their father as a spouse, only as a mother and or a father. So Mr. Owen, hang in there. Hopefully they'll remember how you are as dad and provider.
@waafist2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, I divorced my first wife with no kids involved, but the last argument she tried to start she screamed at me that she hated me, and my response was basically "I don't care, go be mad in another room." Understanding that I felt indifferent was the last straw. I got my ducks in a row and told her I was ready to be done. We used the same lawyer in the divorce, settled everything civilly and here we are almost 13 yrs later and I'm in a happy marriage with 2 kids.

He married a black woman who poisoned the kids even though their adults now
@FreddiA Жыл бұрын
I think it's so important for a mother to not inject their pain from a split into their children. When I divorced my ex due to his cheating ways, I ensured that my children knew they were loved and that they could still love their father. I make sure they check on him, celebrate his birthday, father's day, and all other holidays either with him or at least with a phone call. He's always been there for them and I wasn't going to dismiss or allow them to dismiss him from their lives bc of my pain. Kenya is going to have to help mend the relationships, not for her or Gary but for the children's sake. Even though they are adults, they still need and deserve healthy parental relationships. It was tough, I wanted to tell my kids how he hurt me, what a dog he was, and honestly a small bit of me wanted them to hate him, but no good would come from that. I love my children far more than I could ever hate their dad. Besides, I picked him and I never want my children to suffer from my bad choice. Divorce is hard, parenting is harder, and forgiveness is hardest. I chose to forgive and love my family. Never would I want my ex but he's my family, 16 year together said so. My children hear me pray for him bc I love them and I know they love him. I'm raising black women and it's important that they know how to function past hurt and through pain. They will know they can get through anything bc momma did.

No. He stated they had nothing when they got together, but she did work at times & raised the kids by herself most of the times like others mentioned. Yet he wants her to get nothing. He cheated & decided to leave before she left him. Also, he had someone follow Kenya to serve her at a public drive-thru. What kinda bullsh1t is that?! He also keeps insinuating that she cheated, then says she didn't. I won't touch on other things, but his adult kids aren't talking to him. So there's NO WAY the mom "poisoned" them against him. They grew up in front of him when he was around & seemed to be close. They don't even want his money & no adult would turn that down unless he did something really horrible, especially to them, the "kids". So clearly they know something & so do the other people who talk about him. He takes no responsibility at all for what he did. The guys asked him reasonable questions & he goes back & forth with the answers. Guy should left ages ago. The youngest is only 20/ 21, so the others would've still been adults anyways.

Gary you’re demonstrating so much respect for your wife and children even though they may not realize you are right now. Hurt people hurt people. Children of divorce parents often need counseling to help them understand their feelings and it wasn’t their fault. Most children will side with their mother’s especially in strong Black alpha female families. Mental health therapy will help to define and separate roles within the family, parenting and focus on the marriage. Then goals and objectives can help your children with what’s making them angry, sad and overcome grief with the dissolution of their family. Sometimes the female child will side with the mom and son with dad. Your career kept you busy but not absent. You always talked about your family during your comedy shows. Divorce is just difficult period. I’ve been married to my 2nd husband for 29 years. My 3 adult children accepted my husband as stepfather and love him unconditionally, grandchildren too. We both just raised my granddaughter from birth and she just started her freshman year at college. We are her mom and dad and she loves us as if we were her biological parents. (I made sure she received counseling surrounding possible abandonment issues-re-her bio parents ) His children are another story. We met after both of us were divorced. My eldest daughter thinks that the real issue is because I’m multicultural. So… love is love. Life is short. Treat people how you want to be treated.

Oh you don’t want to go? okay well I’ll go without you. 🙄 Sincere dad: I’m embarrassed and shameful of my infidelity while working on the road Owens: I’m so mad at the betrayal of my openers. How dare they tell my kids the truth about who I am when they are not looking. Mature man: I don’t care about the money lost for having a California divorce. I need to leave my family amicably and civilly. I need to involve therapist and have conversations - not evade my children and their mother during the hardest time of their life. I wish my dad tried as hard as Gary after my parents divorced. I give him props for trying to communicate and support his kids. Its true, many kids take the moms side and never really ask the father what happened and how he feels. Even as a society, we are so quick to blame the father thinking he is bad man not understanding if the mom ever cheated or just wasnt working on the relationship. All we see is dad working and mom taking care of the family so its an automatic non verbal thought that the father is the bad one. Totally not far - esp when the mom creates a narrative that the father is no good and the kids buy into it. I remember when I became older I took on the narrative that dads who left were bad and step-dads were better, it's what all my friends were saying in school. Even my cousins treated their real dads like they didn't exist so I followed. My mom has always reminded my sisters and I to call my dad and that he was still my father no matter what. I used to debate wth her because he didn't seem like he cared but she said it don't matter, you treat like a father. Even on her death bed, she kept asking for him and when he came she opened her eyes. My father and I relationship has been better since my mom passed. I thank her for that. I think she wanted me to know I still had another parent since she and I was so close. I truly hope and pray the best of Gary's situation 🙏

I agree with Gary at the end. It's tough being a dad when you have no good examples. Living through the same thing, have a 20-year-old and a 9-year-old. And doing the best I can. My father wasn't really there, stepdad was so so but not the best father skills. And really had no other man in my life to get guidance from as a father. We do the best for our kids and that's all we can do.

I suspect something in his interactions (or lack of)with his children caused problems. He disappeared for months trying not to get served AND was with another woman. And if his attitude during this interview is an indication, he has not taken accountability for the impact of his actions. Most definitely think his reason for not paying for his daughters schooling is a cop out. And he definitely does not want to support his ex wife although he is adamet that it is his choice to leave and he was the primary provider for 23 years.
