He made some good points man about cops. Some of em just talk to you like a child only cuz they have a gun/badge.

That's the only reason they talk like that. And the fact that bullies hate themselves.
@KingJT80

+Sol Mon I agree with them hating themselves, but they're not bullies, they're nerds with badges. it's just their way of getting back at everyone because they got punked in HS....just because they lift weights and looks changed don't mean shit,,,they're that lil nerd in gym class that got swirlies and wedgies..that's why they shouldn't hire guys like that..i know my friend who works for Tribal police doesn't hire squares like that...that's how you recruit

I am a black man. Nothing but love and respect for Gary Owen especially talking to his children about the police. This is what some African Americans have to understand when police approach you. Act kind under pressure to the police when a police officer approaches you especially white but stay firm. Maybe but there is no guarantee that the police will leave you alone.

+Christian J Harris yep, and the problem is you have a lot of people that have never been stopped, are too scared, and or have been harassed before. Being stopped is traumatizing. And worst, the police mostly know tactics but aren't trained to be emotional and understand how to talk to people to calm them down... So yes, we are fucked.

Like Gary I’m white and my wife is black. My kids are definitely exposed to both worlds but out in the world they are black not even mixed. And therefore my wife and I teach them to handle things through the lens of being black. I certainly don’t fully know what it means to be black but I have worked them corners with my black friends and been with nothing but black women for almost 30 years. I’ve seen firsthand the way black folks get treated sometimes and I have developed an understanding that most white people don’t have.

@@mareerogers1114 cops treat whites like shit all the time. As far as Dylan, you should be happy they bought him Burger King because if they didn't his defense attorney would be able to argue that his confession was made under duress because the police withheld food or they could alleged mistreatment Cops buy suspects fast food, candy bars, sodas all the time, it's not a reward.
@MiaRosenbloom
@MiaRosenbloom 3 жыл бұрын
@@mareerogers1114 "They don't talk to white boys/Men that way ever." A white friend of mine got arrested for "public intoxication, trespassing, and resisting arrest", he got beat up by the cop, and had to spend the entire week of Christmas in jail. All he did was walk across the street from the bar to the 24/7 convivence store to get some food. He was a little loud & obnoxious while in the store (which is his personality even when he's not drunk), and a store clerk didn't like it so they demanded him to leave. He said he'd leave once he received the sub he already paid for, or pay him back. The clerk did neither, instead they called the cops on him, and things went downhill for him from there. The people within the small, rural, country town that my family and I live in, are prejudice & discriminatory to any, and all unfamiliar faces, no matter what color they are, and my white friend was from out of town, on Christmas vacation, visiting my family for the holidays. So a store clerk decided to mess with him for being an outsider.

Glad to hear him say, "I got black kids." That's the truth because I had to tell my daughter's mom(who is milk white), "You do understand you have a black daughter, don't you? Though she's mixed, the world will still see her as black and you have to know that." She didn't really understand then, but after the side stares she's gotten and comments she's heard over the last 11 years(our queen is 11), she understands. Glad to see that someone else who's white understands that about their mixed children.

I love how people get away with vague claims implying racism. They have to be compared on order to determine what kind of racism exists. If a white guy doesn't get hired lol too bad wasn't qualified. But if it's a black guy there can be no other reason besides racism right?
@yousaytomato0000
@yousaytomato0000 5 жыл бұрын
@@Dutch_Engineer_Piff_Dahnk you're reaching here. It is no secret of brutality against blacks from police figures. Dating back to the days of slave patrolling, the attacks of nonviolent protestors allll the way up to the disproportionate arrests during the War on Drugs and even now with Stop and Frisk. A white person will never truly understand or experience the same treatment of their black counterparts. I mean at this point, we could even state it as facts (especially with the amount of research and data that supports the obvious racism) As for the example of the whole "race card"/ boy who cried racism, I mean if you're going to belittle centuries of systematic oppression of this group of people, then there is no argument to be had. Try being a little more sympathetic I guess. Maybe try to see how the brutal American history has essentially pushed these people back decades. I personally feel as if African Americans in 2010's have just caught up to a place where European immigrants were in the 40's. That's just my opinion. Message me if you want elaboration.

I once met Shaq in Orlando. He was holding the door open for me as I walked into the stadium. He was so big and tall I felt like Jack meeting the giant. I started to cower as he looked at me with sadness, shaking his head in disapproval. All he was doing was opening a door. He wasn't trying to eat me.

@@monkeyslap Brah, you're not Black or White. That doesn't mean you can't go to school. Let's not get weird about your school being an hbcu. Check out the history. We acknowledge the history and demographic make up a few schools because this country was never intended for us and we couldn't attend white schools because of the nature of the USA. You typically don't hear people talk about other schools towns or institutions as white towns, schools or institutions, but that's what they are and that is what they have been intended to be. Let's learn a bit about US history and what the US is.

So how do you talk to your children about wearing the wrong color on the street. Black citizens are more likely to be harassed or killed by other black citizens than by police officers. Saying that, the police really need to start checking their own on how they conduct themselves with the public as a whole.

Just my personal experience. I’m a white guy, my wife of 6 years is black. We’ve been together for 10. Got together at 18. We live in the South. It took me over a year to bring her around bc I had the thought my family would hate her and it ruin a relationship with someone I truly loved. The first time I brought her to my family, we stayed for 7 hours. My grandma taught her the recipes she had and she genuinely loved the experience. Two weeks later she took me to her family. We stayed 15 minutes. And I was only inside the house for 5 bc as soon as they saw me they hated me. They didn’t care we’d been together over a year at the time. They immediately accused me of only wanting to have sex with her for bragging rights with my “bro’s”. Perception is everything. Then a year later I got a job doing technical work for an internal security company and was making $220k a year and all the sudden the family loves me. They don’t get shit from me. They hate me again. The moral of this stop judging the book by its cover. The second moral is it’s not just you.

Saying the Mike Brown situation brought the worst out of people from both sides, is like saying the side that was against slavery, should not have had riots to get their point across.
