There were two different theories about the grandma and what she did to previous snails. 1st, she was feeding them fat to eat them later, 2nd, she was overfeeding them until they all died.

@@kristijanEX This was largely due to censorship. According to technical writer Vincent Waller, the tray of cookies she was swinging at Gary was originally supposed to be an axe. Even as it is, her throwing the cookies like ninja stars suggests malice more than obliviousness/senility to me.

Are you shitting me right now?! What's even more insane is that Gary was barely even making an attempt to even grab the cookie when he had the chance. In fact, how exactly did the cookie get in Patrick's pocket in the first place? There also barely seemed to be many jokes in the episode either. At least Patrick wasn't unlikable in "Have You Seen This Snail?".

Gary come home. The first time SpongeBob made us cry. This is why SpongeBob SquarePants is so great. It can make us laugh from their hilarious jokes, it can make us relate to SpongeBob and his friends, and it can make us cry at a genuine sadness that a character feels.

That's right. The old lady loved all her pet snails until she decided she wanted to eat them. She fed them all a lot and fattened them up and ate them. I'm guessing "Miss Tuffsy" is the one who got away. She was one of those snails but she managed to escape before being eaten and the old lady has been looking for her ever since but of course she's long gone. And now that she's senile she confuses every stray snail as Miss Tuffsy. Honestly this old lady storyline reminds me of Coraline. Spending years luring innocent unsuspecting victims one right after another into her home, treating each of them with love and care, feeding them good food and all of it being just so she could eat them later. Sounds just like the Other Mother/Beldam.

This episode still makes me feel sad for SpongeBob because I’ve always been so worried for my cats if they ever leave. And this year I lost my cat Shadow. Something was wrong with her. She wasn’t acting right, she didn’t eat her food, lost her appetite, and she’s gotten thinner. Dad did let her outside at night, but in the morning, he realize that she didn’t came back. Dad believes that she must’ve died. I didn’t want to believe him, but I would hate to admit it. She probably wasn’t feeling well, so she had to find somewhere to hide so that she could die peacefully. I miss her.😢😔

This is one my favorite SpongeBob episodes in general. It’s sad and heartwarming by the end. It has one of the best song. This is the first time that a SpongeBob special felt like a actually special and not extended with patchy segments, which there’s nothing wrong but it’s better without patchy.

This special never gets old. So cinematic, emotional, epic yet simple and overall a masterpiece. I like how it finally shows bond between SpongeBob and Gary and showed he's clumsy but caring owner(Great Snail Race doesn't count) While Squidward's scream is legendary meme material I feel like this is a minor starting point of phenomenon known as Squidward Torture Porn where Squidward or/and his house gets trashed for no reason and the show acts like it's totally a normal day. That grandma is still scary, DoodleBob, Strangler and Dennis might be tougher and stronger, but that old lady is genuinely creepy.

But it does. While Season 4 has gems, the humor leaves a lot to be desired compared to seasons 2 and 3. I will say, Dunces and Dragons is honestly in my top 10 SpongeBob episodes and if memory serves, it’s a season 4 special, but I still believe the decline is somewhat noticeable this season. The plot of a lot of episodes just feel a bit too forced and lack the creativity and charm of its previous seasons.
