Gary , I had trouble charging my TX and realized that I needed to remove the plastic cover over the charging pins , I wonder how many people are having problems charging?

Great test vid! Smaller and more discrete than the Rode Wireless Go II that I use, and seems to sound great too for most peoples needs. Thanks for the great test vid!

Good to hear Sam. For comparison, the section where I am showing the transmitter and receiver features I recorded with the WG2.

I have just got one of these. Did you have to seriously raise the gain in post. The levels that come out of the mic are really low in my opinion? So far I am not that impressed.

Hi Garry. Thank you for this great review. After watching your review I decided to buy this one for my Huawei P40 Pro. I tried several others with minimal results. Connected this SmallRig and what a difference this small unit makes! I tried it at a distance of 4 meters filming a family-dinner. So amazed that all conversation was perfect audible with the mic at the centre of the table.. Want to buy a Insta360 One X2 and want to use this SmallRig as well but I do not know if it will work.

Thanks Roma, I’m glad the video was helpful. I had a look at the insta360 external microphone adapters and they only receive a 3.5mm Jack. They are not USB-C audio compatible like the smartphone sorry.

Very impressive and I like the quality! I would like to connect it to a sound board somehow.
@GaryDmedia2 жыл бұрын
That’s an interesting question. If the sound board could accept a usb audio device it would work but I don’t know of one. It may work with some of the modern mixers like the RodeCaster II.

Nice review. Can I use it on my iphone?

No. Unless you use a lightning Apple camera adapter as well as a USB-C to USB adapter. geni.us/iOS_Camera_Adapter

Sir this item can i use its on my Goprohero11?
@GaryDmedia2 жыл бұрын
No Julius, the device has to have a compatible USB-C audio input. Not just a a simple USB-C charging port.

@@2limbo hi, yeah I'll test it against Rode II. Probably take a couple of weeks to get here but keep an eye out.

Yeahh, too bad. That the transmitter does not have a replaceable, spring-loaded clip. That's not going to last very long. Before it breaks. Then you'll just get out the old,, duct tape. And get sticky glue. All over your good shirt. When you go to remove it. And you know that's coming. Otherwise I kind of like this. But it's also somewhat unnecessary. If one simply uses a miniature,, digital audio chip recorder. With a built-in or external microphone. Which will synchronize easily to any video track. That has a compromised guide, audio track. To synchronize against. Which could also be used as, an emergency safety backup track. In that way. You don't have to deal with wireless communications. Or have an extra gizmo,, plugged into your video recorder camera. And so I think. Tiny, digital voice recorders is a boon.. To our industry. Since wireless microphones can be,, dodgy. Can be interfered with. Can be on the wrong frequency. With older ones. Since the UHF frequencies available for professionals. Have been sold. To the commercial corporations. Who have repurposed those frequencies. For their use. And you're not supposed to be using those frequencies anymore. Where some folks are not the wiser,, regarding that. Because they purchased there's,, years ago. And they are perfectly fine and usable. But you're not supposed to use those anymore. And you can't, have them converted to the newer frequencies. And this has become a large issue. So if one can avoid, wireless microphones? Then, they should be avoided. Conversely.. If more than one on camera person is involved? They could all have separate, digital vvoice recoorders. So that a good, stellar sounding,, audio track can be derived. From multitrack microphone feeds. 2-3-4 or more talkers. All on their own track. You can't do that with a wireless mic system. With only a single wireless mic. No way! And so then what do you do? If you need more than a single channel? And you can only plug one in? DUH! Individualized, digital voice recorders on everyone! And this other little thing called, postproduction and an, video editing session. Like the kind you have to take more than five minutes with. Like the kind that requires production excellence. By professionals. So that you have a product of, authority.. Not willy-nilly cluelessness. UM,, DUH, it works. Yes but how well? That's what professionals want to know! And why we read the, National Enquirer. At tthe food store checkout line. Then, the only reason to purchase that paper. Is, to have that article. About the 2 headed baby. And the people who have died from, incendiary, Fart's. Because people wanna' know! And how not to give birth to a 2 headed baby. By eating rhubarb leaves. Every day. And then washing it down with some Drano. On the rocks. I'm so glad we had this educational discussion. RemyRAD

Thanks Remy, for taking the time to share your comments about the benefits of a separate audio recorder. I have to agree that separate recorders are a superior choice in some settings. Not sure about the comments related to purchasing the news paper? Anyway, I appreciate you sharing your expertise. Stay safe.
