I ride a 2013 Gasgas XC300 with an S3 head and fmf gnarly pipe. What I love about this bike is the smoothness of power delivery, amazing stall resistance and low down torque. it tractors along like my XR650r. It is also very stable and well balanced, the stock suspension setup is amazing in the woods and rocky single track. The 6spd transmission ratios are spot on. The thing is built like a tank, and sure it is heavier than the rest, but it just makes me stronger! I am buying a timbersled kit and smart carb for it this year :)

I keep riding different bikes, rode a Sherco 300, KTM 350 and nothing compares to my 300GP. I came from a 2017 300 model and what a difference. As soon as you seat and ride you feel at home. Suspension is awesome and it does not rip your hands off the handle bars, but the power is there when you need it. The Sherco, I felt like it was going to rip my hands off at low speed, not good when your arms are tired.

On my 2018 ec300 I have the power valve screwed out 2 turns and the power is nuts and it barley stalls in slow technical terrain I found that it stalls less than my old gasgas 450 4 stroke With the power valve adjusted it feels a lot faster and more powerful than any other 300 twostroke and i have had it rejeted so it runs leaner because they run way to rich stock.
@stevehangen29056 жыл бұрын
Adjust the power valve to 3 turns out. You'll have more power and a hard hitting engine when needed.

i asked the guys about this and they said the lowdown grunt tends to disappear a little more and it would have been more likely to stall so we just left it at the standard setting.

Ive owned a lot of bikes, tons of off road built YZ250s, A few KTMs, etc. This is the best bike ive owned. (2018 Gas Gas XC300). The suspension is great, theyre very well balanced, they feel docile in power stock, but changing the carb needle out to the Yamaha N3CH needle really makes the throttle response a lot more clean and crisp, back the PV out to 2/2.25 turns and she really livens up. And if you really like living on the wild side, go to 3 turns out and when the pwerband hits it will yank the front wheel in 5th without the clutch. I also went 2 teeth up on the rear sprocket and added an RK Tek head. Im used to moto gearing so bigger rear sprocket brought second gear down so it was more useable at slow speeds. But i love the bike and wont be looking elsewhere anytime soon.

CROSS TRAINING ENDURO SKILLS It's the old "underpowered and heavy" (not my impressions at all when riding it) 2008 one, so almost a completely different bike to the 2018, but I love it. The lower seat height and 6 gears are really nice to have compared to a KTM 300 EXC of the same year, and they're usually quite a bit cheaper on the used market. I think it's a great way to get into riding a 300cc 2 stroke if you don't have much disposable income like me, there's not much I would gain by spending a lot more on a brand new bike (e start maybe).

great to hear! i wouldn't mind a ride on an older model just to make the comparison myself.

I am a little surprised about your opinion on older gas gas. I had a 2010 ec300 racing edition which came with öhlins suspensions that felt a million times better than the ktms. KTM advertises a weight of 100kg but they actually are at 104kg (no water no fuel) whereas the gas gas really is at 105 so they are the same weight now! But even my 2010 model never felt heavier than any KTM I have driven. The 2010 model also cost me 1500€ less than a 300exc would have cost me! Here in Germany / France the 2018 model is sold a lot cheaper than the betas! Around 5-800€ difference + the Kickstarter.... I was the first to get the new 2018 model outside of Spain and love it ever since! The clutch is a lot stiffer on the beta, I really didn't like that. One finger all day on the gg is no problem at all but on the beta I would have to use 2 fingers in rough terrain.

nice stoppie skills :P yeah my 2010 model had a soft spot around 3000rpm which was a little annoying. Had to work the valve a little and switched to the S3 Stars cylinder head which helped a lot. I might try the GP head on the phoenix this summer to get a little more power in low revs.
@progammler6 жыл бұрын
that was actually the only thing that annoyed me with my GG, never had to change a thing on my yamaha but the carburetor was set up very poorly on my 2010 GG. Pissing in every corner...Had to adjust the floater by a full centimeter. I tried every possible combiation from 172-180 main, 38-45 slow with the stock needle (N1EF IIRC) but it didn't help. I ended up with 175-42 most of the time and the blue needle from JD Jetting which is a lot thicker (leaner) at 0-50% (200-500m, 10-30°C). It cost me months to get it right which should have been better from the beginning and they definitely improved it in 2018. My 2010 felt like a tractor, literally impossible to stall but sometimes it wouldn't want to run in mid revs. 2018 is a lot more linear.
@Nuno.Alcaide6 жыл бұрын
Since 2007 never had an issue with carburation on Gasgas bikes. If you get it from a Gasgas proper dealer, they can dial it for you, and you never have to touch it (not the same with a KTM for instance, where you have to work a lot with carburation with different height).

The bike itself is pretty good. I've got the 2015 EC300 Racing model and can agree with most of your points. The one thing that really sucks(at least at my bike) is its shitty electric starter. It never worked well but now it's just fucked up. To make things worse, when the electric start failed, I kicked apart the kickstart lever.
