Project Overturn aka RareBeeph The way I’ve been taught says that compound time signatures like 6/8 or 3/4 are dictated by the feel of the song. While yes, the original song’s measures of 4/4 would indicate that it’s stretched to 6/4, this isn’t the same song anymore. It instead now implies a 3/4 time signature through its feel. If I’m not counting it in sixes, why should I count it as 6/4?

To explain how he figures this out: As every "other" beat refers to each 2nd run, and the song has a 4/4 time signature (4 beats per bar so standard stuff), that means beats 2 and 4 are played twice which adds another 2 beats to the bar. That takes it from 4/4 to 6/4 (6 beats in a bar). If you separate that into two runs of 3, then you can apply a standard waltz beat over it. The song typically combines either 2 or 4 bars together so you would want to run 4 bars of 3/4 together to make a measure. With vocals, that'd be the only real way you could do it without making it sound like a total mess. HOWEVER. IF this was instrumental, it'd be so cool to group the first section as 3, the middle as 6, and the end as 3. The melody of the keys and the guits make it sound mega proggy. Loads of potential man, maybe you should consider doing an arrangement of it?

drdca I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t realize it until I finished reading it and got confused why it looked wrong.

I'm impressed at how good of a drummer you are. I can barely keep the consistency to be able to play my Nyssma solo from 2 years ago, but you somehow nail every crazy cover that you're given.

Your videos keep showing up in my recommended vids because I like looking up kooky drum stuff every now and then and dammit you got me on this one, subbed.

This seriously speaks to how awesome you are with rhythm, Jerod! Seeing as you're so familiar with the original, it's one thing knowing that a song will be in 6 instead of 4, but translating that to the actual drumming along? Can't even follow until you start turning it into a waltz. Way to go, man!
