I like how you try to tie in as many theories as possible to try and increase conceptual understanding of the laws. Most teachers would just give the different formulas without explaining why, or only explain a few. I know my professor gave us the formulas for Boyles, Charles, Gayloess and Avagadro's laws, but they never expained how it was derived from the perfect gas law. It decreases your studying time GREATLY if you know how to derive these different laws from the main law, and why it happens.

Thank you for your teaching across so many disciplines! I do not know how much you know, but I have used probably 5 or 6 videos. It has taken all these in order for me to do well in chemistry. I have gone from a C to a B and I anticipate arriving at an A. Thank you for your giving! I want to keep going even though I am 62 and don't know if I'll ever get to use this stuff; it's still fun to learn and I'm grateful to be in school and to learn from you:)

Why is Boyle's Law a hyperbolic curve when Gay-Lussac & Charles are straight line relationships? I'm not talking about just the math; I get why an inverse relationship creates the hyperbolic curve, I'm trying to understand the physical reality of why the inverse relationship exists in the first place; what is it about intermolecular forces or kinetic theory for example that makes it this way?
@hectorokereke9268
@hectorokereke9268 Жыл бұрын
In chemistry when pressure is added to a certain gas it makes the molecules to gain speed thereby leading to an increases in the kinetic energy of molecules and Collision.....these Collision exert force on the body thereby making It to expand (volume increases) so as to have enough space to contain the molecules...when the volume has increased the pressure goes back to normal but since the volume is larger than before the pressure automatically becomes less So In summary the more the space(volume) the less collision of molecules(pressure) thereby making a hyperbolic curve showing the inverse relationship
